Antique (junk) shops in Edinburgh?

Ds and I love poking around in junk shops. Not fancy antique shops but ones with random piles of old stuff. He loves finding coins or stamps, I love postcards.
Can anyone recommend anywhere good in Edinburgh? We're there for a few days soon.

Thank you!

I’d suggest taking a stroll down Morningside and looking in the charity shops there. They are very selective with what donations they accept and so a couple of them have more of an antique shop vibe.

You could catch a bus out to Drum Farm Antiques in Danderhall.

I second Drum Farm. Check the buses first though, it’s a fair way out of town.

Cavanagh’s on Cockburn street would be a good fit - tiny and totally crazy layout. Does coins and militaria

There are good junk shops/charity shops down leith walk- always good for a rootle around in.

there is a place, emporium 62 in home street, tollcross and the mad hatter music shop around the corner from there on brougham street - you can hardly get in for stock, which overspills onto the pavement.

Thanks for the ideas. I looked at the Drum Farm website and it seemed to only have expensive furniture but I guess they have other things there? I don't suppose they will advertise a box of random coins for £3 on their website.

And Cavanagh's sounds like a good shout. Ds loves coins so we'll definitely have a look in there. I like finding a gem in a massive box of postcards. Fingers crossed for some good ones.
