Sorry probably one of the weirdest requests for info!!

I'm have a SEN son who is due to go on holiday abroad with his dad for the first time. He's extremely anxious (but still excited).

Me and ExH been separated 8 years and currently not on best of terms.

Anyway, after my exH booked the holiday with DS. I thought I'd take the opportunity to go away over the same dates (never been abroad without DS but since he'll be away I thought why not?!).

DS was due to leave in the morning and I booked all flights etc for the afternoon. However exH has now told me that he had changed his mind about the flight but as it's the same day didn't realise it would be an issue.

My flight is now due to depart 10 mins after my DS!!!! I'm so so stressed and anxious that I bump into him at the airport and he has a meltdown and refuses to go with his dad (he's usually fine once he's left me but hates seeing me and at the airport would be a disaster).

I've got a plan to leave well before him & his dad, have booked fast track security and booked into the adult only airport lounge. The part where I'm worried about bumping into him is at the departure gates. I've been hardly sleeping and feel sick at the thought (it's hard to explain without seeing how severe this could be for DS).

What I was hoping is that our departure gates are likely to be far apart as I'm EasyJet and he's tui. Is this likely or are the gates assigned randomly and any airline can have a departure gate anywhere?

Thanks so much for reading such a long ramble & bizarre question!!

@teadi

I'm sorry it's spoiling you getting excited about your holiday. That's shit.

you don't sound mad or OTT to anyone that has experience with children who have SEN.

bloody Sod's law isn't it. I don't suppose you can change your ticket??

Hopefully as DS won't be expecting to see you at the airport, if you're wearing a new dress (any excuse) and some big sunglasses (cheap & cheerful primark) and a hat & cheap scarf type thing, I'd use a new bag too (even just a cheap shopping tote) and new shoes (if you can afford even a new pair of flip flops) it's the little things kids focus on!

I hope you have a brilliant time once you get on the plane!!

& hope DS has a good holiday with his Dad too! If it goes well it could be an annual thing to look forward to!
