Anyone local to Largs or know it well?

We potentially have a move to Largs on the cards. It would allow us to be much closer to older family members and we would be making the move before our children are of primary school age.

We know the town to visit but I’m hoping someone may be able to give me some advice as to what living there is actually like? 🤞🏼

What are the nurseries like? From what I can see, there are a few options (1 at the school and 2 private)?

Is there plenty to do in terms of baby/toddler groups?

I have always worked in retail and would ideally go back to working PT once kids are sorted with nursery etc - how likely is it to be able to pick up a PT job locally?

Cannot say about nurseries or childcare, but it's a lovely town. None of the parochial webbed finger brigade that Ayrshire has a bad name for. Lots of activities for adults and children if you wish. Still a feeling of community but not entrenched "backs to the wall there all out to get us ".
The local paper is full of the usual "dinnae be happy, someone waurse aff that ye" but does give jobs, and that people do care, do raise money for sick children and make an effort.
Houses are moving quickly but a lot of decent places available.

The secondary school consistently scores high on league tables but has a good name for non academic activities too. Welcome!

I'm in North Ayrshire, but not Largs. I love living here. Good train links to Glasgow but still in a small town. Not far from the sea and also lots of countryside spaces and walks for the kids. Get more house for your money too than most other areas, although Largs is a bit more expensive. I've been in the region for 1 year and my kids (preschool and toddler) have busy social lives with swimming, sports, Bookbug at the library, various toddler groups. Look at the KA Leisure website to see what sports activities are available on Largs.
There are so many shops in Largs I would imagine there would be retail based opportunities for you. I'm not sure how much of it could be seasonal though.
