Wild camping with DD

Wondering if anyone has any bright ideas of somewhere to wild camp in July? DD is 7 and happy with a bit of hiking but would need to be somewhere with not too long a walk from the car as would be just she and I. She also adores forests so ideally camping in woods or with some nearby. Within 2hrs or so of Glasgow also would be ideal!

There's a wild camping group on fb that covers loads of areas in and surrounding Glasgow, there's loads of recommendations on it.

Ah great thanks. I’m not on FB but will get DH to take a look for me.

If you are only walking from the car it's not really wild camping.
Would you not be better with a basic site? There way you can go out and about and will feel more secure at night.

I wild camp as a night stop over on a hike but that's remote and not within striking distance of a carpark.

There are a lot of more reasonable and basic sites in Dumfries and Galloway which would satisfy the forest criteria

Just discovered ‘wild’ camping at various sites within the Loch Lomond National Park requires a permit.

Comrie Croft has some lovely camping. Not wild camping as such but it is very rustic and has a lovely chilled out feel.

Ooh Comrie Croft does look cool, @Flossieflamingo, I’ll have a think about that. DD has this very sweet idea that the world would be better if everything was completely natural and we had no houses and roads etc, so I wanted to give her a proper off grid experience to see what she thought! We’d only do a night or two so I’m happy with no showers and campfire for that amount of time.

@Calmdown14 I see what you mean, I don’t think I’d feel too spooked in the middle of a forest, maybe I’m a bit naive though! Thanks all for your thoughts.

Because people had taken the absolute piss and left the place a total tip.
