Hotel in Edinburgh

We’re planning a weekend break in Edinburgh in a few months time and looking for recommendations of somewhere to stay. Hotel somewhere central ideally (and teenagers say it has to have a decent all you can eat breakfast 🤣)
Any recommendations?

Budget?
I stayed in the Hilton Hampton recently and it was good. Quite near Haymarket Station

We stayed at the Double Tree by Hilton - great location - could see the Castle from the hotel

Maybe not as upmarket as you are thinking but if you can get it at a decent price (not when the rugby is on!) I really like the Premier Inn at Edinburgh Park for a budget stay-not central but next to a tram station so takes minutes to get into town-there is also a costa/kfc/Tesco etc across the rd.

Premier Inn breakfasts are usually a win with teens, the hotel on York Place is ranked the best PI in the UK.
Do you need parking as that seriously limits your options?

Also has free parking!

What trockodile said. I'm in Edinburgh every month on business, mostly in the West End. Come out of the hotel door, the tram is right there, and takes less than half an hour into the centre of Edinburgh. Most of the time, is quieter than Premier Inns in the city centre, you can park for free, and it costs £3.50 for a tram return

We have stayed at the Double Tree a few times. They have castle view rooms. Great location. Very nice breakfast
Nearby parking too which you pay at the hotel

Thanks everyone. I’ll have a look at these. We’re not taking the car as we’re keen on being in the city centre and didn’t want to worry about parking

I'm with @trockodile too, it's a gem of a hotel and so much cheaper/easier than other PI in the city centre. We only discovered it because the train strikes meant we has no choice but to drive and city centre parking is eye watering.

Motel one usually gets decent reviews too, there’s 2 hotels but they’re literally either side of princes street from each other.

The Knights Residence central but quiet.
You get a whole apartment with 2 bedrooms and a full decent kitchen so you can self cater for a very reasonable price. There is a car park too

We stayed in The Scotsman it was really lovely.

Premier Inn on Rose Street is good. It's next to Marks and Spencer. We had a good couple of nights there.
