Moving to Scotland

Hi my family and I are moving to Scotland and are looking for a nice, safe and friendly town within 15-45 minutes commute of Dundee. We love the outdoors and hills and want somewhere where there's good schools and activities for children but not too big or busy. My initial thoughts are Auchterarder, Kinross, Cupar, Blairgowrie, Kirriemuir and Monifieth. Can anyone post help with recommendations?
Many thanks

I'm looking for this exact information too! I'm from Broughty Ferry but haven't lived there for 20 years, moving back over for family support after having our first child. I haven't heard anything good about Dundee schools and I don't know enough about the schools in Angus or Fife unfortunately! We're looking for a small town very similar in standard to Hillsborough in Northern Ireland where we are now. We've done lots of research on lots of trips over recently and found that Cupar and Auchterarder are lovely, Kirriemuir is decent, Monifieth is also ok. Seems that the best high schools in the area are Bell Baxter and Madras but you need not to have a DD postcode for those, not too sure about the primary schools. I'm already worried about high school for my son......who is 2 years old 😅

Wormit - have friends there and they love it. Quick to get to Dundee for work, local shops and restaurants and Madras as your High School.

Hi I have seen some properties in both Keith Banffshire and Buckie Aberdeenshire which I like they are also simular prices a little expensive but that is to be expected as Scotland is on the house price rise. I am wondering which is better to live in I do not know either area any advice or information would be much appreciated ta.

Grove Academy and Monifieth High School are all very well regarded schools, Broughty Ferry and Monifieth both lovely areas to live with easy access to Dundee with very good primary schools. You couldn't commute from Auchterarder to Dundee in 15/45 minutes, the Broxden Roundabout gets extremely jammed in both directions and it would take much longer than 45 minutes depending on time of day. Wormit/Tayport are decent commutes and nice areas to live. Carnoustie would fit the bill in terms of community and commute etc however I am not familiar with the school.

I'd go for Newport over Wormit as there is a brilliant community feel (I grew up in both).

Newport/Wormit/Tayport/Gauldry all have a DD6 postcode and feed to Madras.
