Is the SNP gerrymandering their leadership vote?

It seems the HQ are refusing to say how many members are allowed to vote or allow independent scrutiny of the vote. They want to wait until after the vote to see how many votes they need to add to make Yousaf win to announce how many qualifying members there are. It is outrageous that the vote for the person likely to be FM is being done this way.

GRR bill has been a matter of policy since 2016,

Self ID was not in the manifesto for the last election. They also agreed to consult with women’s groups who had concerns but did not do so until forced to and only after they agreed the wording of the bill, which was also before the end of the consultation period.

'missing' 600k as if there is some sort of law which prevents a political party spending its own money

yes there is a law preventing people using funds raised for one cause on a different cause. It is called fraud. Perhaps why this is subject to a criminal investigation

extra 350million pounds PER WEEK we are presumably ploughing into the NHS since we left the EU

More than £700 million extra PER WEEK is ploughed into the NHS compared 2016

Only yesterday you were griping about 'ferries', a disgraceful fiasco in its own right, and opining that the money this has cost would have paid for such and such, yet I've never once seen you mention the absolute farce of the Ajax AFV program

Oh look, squirrel!

Well, well, well, Sturgeon’s senior aide, Liz Lloyd and the SNP Head of Communications, Murray Foote have quit today amid claims that party HQ ‘lied’.
The plot thickens.

Merrilydancing · 17/03/2023 21:37

I have to admit that I did wonder why NS resigned when the party was likely to again win at the next election but now it seems like the pack of cards is tumbling down.

Babdoc · 17/03/2023 21:38

Lorna Finn, the SNP party secretary, stated in an email (seen by the Times) that the membership was 86,000 as recently as late December 2022. So the SNP have lost over 10,000 members in two months, and fallen 42% since 2019.
Perhaps the PP on here frothing about my
post should try checking her facts first.
I see Liz Lloyd, senior advisor to Sturgeon has also quit now. The wheels are definitely coming off, not before time!

I'm absolutely loving this.
SNP ex members found their missing brain cell, took off their rose tinted glasses and left the party in droves. How many more will leave now that they see they are not part of one huge supporter movement as previously led to believe?
I hope the rumours that Murrell will resign are true.
Why is this criminal investigation taking so long and why has no one been jailed or arrested yet?

Rainbowshit · 18/03/2023 10:34

It seems Murrell has absolutely no choice. He either resigns or there will be a vote of no confidence.

Also loving watching this unfold.

Were we not promised a better kind of politics from the SNP? Sure they said they'd be less corrupt , more transparent than the tories? It's just all spin and lies.

TheBelmont · 18/03/2023 14:23

And he’s gone….hurrah!
Looking forward to it all coming out of the woodwork now

Babdoc · 18/03/2023 15:01

Must say I am surprised (and delighted!) at how fast the whole house of cards is collapsing. It would be lovely if this was the end of the SNP and their divisive grievance politics, and we could get back to working together as a united kingdom, for the benefit of all, including Scots.

might need to update the username....

Looks like the referendum might indeed be a once in a generation thing, and with any luck, this debacle will make it once in several generations!
