taking gifts into hospitals?

Asking this on Scotsnet as we all know our NHS likes to do things differently.

My dad has been in hospital for a few weeks. Mum has been visiting every day, he will hopefully get home eventually but needs a lot more physio first. The nurses have been brilliant with them and Mum wants to buy something to show her appreciation. Nothing fancy, couple of boxes of (shop bought, sealed) shortbread or biscuits for them to have with a cup of tea.

That's allowed, isn't it? I know the hospital has a no flowers policy but couldn't see anything about biscuits.

I took home made biscuits before and nobody complained!

Boxes of biscuits, chocolates, anything food related which can be shared. Always appreciated ime.

My DGF passed away in a Glasgow Hospital last year and I sent a basket of muffins to the Nurses that had cared for him and there were no issues.

Lovely, thank you.

Small gifts of modest value that are intended to be shared are perfect and are allowed.

The best thing of all would be to write a letter to the Head of Nursing and chief exec . Make it detailed - not just “ they were all lovely “ but

“ my father was anxious the night before his operation and staff nurse MacDonald took the time to sit with him and go through everything again, check that he understood “ etc
