Hogmanay at home with kids

How do you celebrate the new year at home with kids? My DD (9) is very excited to stay up, but it will be just the three of us, so looking for ideas of what others do to make it special? I’m planning on a mini disco (any ceilidh suggestions?), card games (uno probably), late dinner, and possibly a film. Not quite sure how to avoid the bells being an anticlimax?? There were much bigger crowds when I was her age ☹️

what do you do?

Whenever they’ve planned to stay up they’ve never actually made it to the bells!

when the kids were wee we always did a buffet at about 8/9pm (with either a substantial snack or a light tea earlier) to try and help them stay awake later. and similar to you - film, card games, music and watching the TV from about 11.45ish...

If it makes you feel any better we do absolutely nothing and they'll get sent to bed as normal (5 and 8 year old). We go all out for Christmas but have never been into Hogmanay/new year.

I’m really not fussed if I’m just at home, could treat it like any other night. She is determined though as seems to think it will be lots of fun. Some neighbours set fireworks off at 11pm exactly last year, but I’m not sure I will get away with changing the clocks 😂😂

Fingers crossed it leads to a long lie on the 1st, start the year as I mean to go on.
