Wondering where is the best place to go privately for breast surgery (breast misalignment) in the central belt. Would be grateful for your recommendations or don't touch them with a barge pole experiences. Many thanks 🙂

I have a friend who is getting major breast reduction surgery and wanted a specific surgeon. I'll see if I can find out who it was.

SpinningLikeAGirlInABrandNewDress · 26/10/2022 22:52

That would be great, thank you so much 😊

Sorry - I've checked her posts and she doesn't mention the name of who she wanted - I had thought she did but she just says "a top surgeon". It will be a few weeks before I see her again as she's now post-op and I'll ask her who did the op.

Dan Widdowson at Cosmedicare is very popular from groups I am and have been on. I was on them for a tummy tuck and went to him, but boobs seem to be his "thing" too.

LoopyGremlin · 27/10/2022 21:22

I had mine done by Mr Widdowson. Quite happy but should have give even smaller, especially as I have put some weight on!

Hi ladies, thanks so much for your response, I had kinda given up on my post. Was it Cosmedicare in Glasgow?

Anyone had any experience with Elanic?

It's just such a big thing, I want to get the best xx

I actually got mine done on the NHS at the Golden Jubilee so can't comment on Cosmedicare.

Cosmedicare is opening a clinic in Glasgow but the type of surgery you're looking for would be done at St Ellen's in Livingston which is their own private hospital.

SpinningLikeAGirlInABrandNewDress · 28/10/2022 19:53

@LoopyGremlin did you have a long wait on the NHS? We have tried the GP but she has said the wait is long and getting accepted is hard. The surgery is for my daughter and she has 3 cup sizes between her two breasts so quite a significant difference which I though would be no problem on the NHS but the doc basically said we have next to no chance ☹️

@hilbil21 that's good to know they have their own hospital. Elanic do the procedure in their building in Glasgow which I think is my main concern as what if something goes wrong, you've no hospital full of doctors?

Russell bramhall done mine at Rosshall. He is on instagram if you want to look at his work but I highly recommend him

hilbil21 · 28/10/2022 20:01

@SpinningLikeAGirlInABrandNewDress Cosmedicare also have a virtual thing you can see what you will look like afterwards to help decide on size etc. Not sure if Elanic have similar.

LoopyGremlin · 28/10/2022 20:05

My GP said the same- that it would be unlikely- but she referred me anyway and I got an appointment a few months later. The team then looked at my case and I had it done about 6 months later. A couple of things they were insistent on was that I had finished my family and also that my weight was low. BMI had to be below 25. I am definitely not that weight now sadly! All of this was around 5 years ago so things may be different. I am in Lothian so things could be different in other areas too.

Good luck to your daughter though. I'm glad I had mine done. They are a bit bigger than they were first done due to weight gain but they no longer drop to my belly button when I take my bra off 🤣

SpinningLikeAGirlInABrandNewDress · 28/10/2022 20:17

@Antihistamine62 Thank you I'll have a look at him. We originally wanted Eva Weiler-Mithoff from Rosshall but she is retiring next year so not doing any ops now ☹️

@hilbil21 We went to Elanic this week and they had the scanner and let her try on a bra with the implants to the size we are going to go. I want to compare with another clinic though as I'm worried about the procedure not being done in a hospital, I feel it's too big a surgery.

hilbil21 · 28/10/2022 20:44

Give Cosmedicare a phone/email/message. They also have a Facebook group Smile

SpinningLikeAGirlInABrandNewDress · 28/10/2022 21:02

@LoopyGremlin Lol, I feel your pain although lockdown means mine do now droop past my belly button 😂
The GP told her to loose weight to get her BMI down a bit so I think they are still quite strict with that. She is only 21 and no family yet but your right that might be another sticking point on the NHS. I didn't realise how great the difference was until she got the scan and it really affects her confidence around what she can and can't wear etc. They pointed out after surgery her breasts might change and need further surgery down the line after kids etc. But we agree with her it's something she needs to her done x

The plastics surgeons who work at st Ellen’s are nearly all nhs consultants at the local hospital St. John’s which is less than 5 minutes away. St. John’s takes all the plastics cases for Lothian.

Ben Chew in Glasgow is very highly recommended by fellow medics. I wanted him for BR but he does have a long waiting list because he is so good.
