Entertaining a 5yo on a school day?

I've agreed to babysit my 5yo DN next week one of the school strike days (in Glasgow/west end). The cinema is my default entertainment option but none of the cinemas are showing early screenings - missing a trick! And now I'm suddenly panicking... Any ideas? I'd prefer to get the train in but can drive. Probably looking for stuff 10-3ish to cover my sister's meetings. And allergies mean food is complicated.

Museum followed by park?
is there a pool you can take him?

go to the Kelpies

Kelvingrove, Riverside Museum or Glasgow science centre and take a picnic.

Swimming
park
museum
picnic.

Any of the above! It will be fine

the problem with picnic/park is the forecast for next week is thundery showers...

i'm already travelling nearly an hour each way to babysit so def not looking to add in a trip as far out as the kelpies but have never done riverside museum with him so might try that and see if i can find something else nearby.

I haven't done science centre for absolutely years but I hated it cause i felt one of their displays was openly mocking of people so can't bring myself to go back there - despite knowing it would be the easiest option!

You can still do the park in the rain! Just wear your rain jacket.

Car picnic. Everyone loves a car picnic… 😊

What days are the school strikes?

I have no ideas for you but I've got to get to Glasgow next week and had no idea about the strikes (I've been avoiding the news a bit).

The Tall Ship is right next to it!

Soft play

Riverside museum is really good for kids.

Soft play or swimming and home for lunch. Film on tv with popcorn or similar for the afternoon.
