We've got a last opportunity to get away and found cheap flights to Glasgow. Never been but want to as love Scotland and want to see all of it. We would be there Friday to late Monday. Looking at air bnbs. Any recommendations what to do, where to stay? Love outdoor stuff but want indoor too incase of rain

Glasgow is great but I'm not sure what there is for an 8yo that you wouldn't get elsewhere however There is the transport museum (riverside) which is quite cool or the science centre.

I'd be tempted to do a day in Glasgow and get the train the other day to Edinburgh. It's only 50 minutes and you could do the castle or one of the spooky walking tours.

Luss isn't far from Glasgow (max 1 hour driving) and is picturesque and you might be able to do some water sports but if you don't have transport it's a bit of a faff to get to.

If you want to stay city centre the premier inn George square is worth a look. It's great value for that location.

You could always look and see if there are any shows on at the secc or the hydro too.

Possibly not what you're after but the highlight of Glasgow for my kids was Tubbees

would probably stay city centre/west end if glasgow is your focus, although there will be plenty of places on suburban (cheaper) train lines if you want to focus more on the outdoors. places like milngavie/balloch/helensburgh are all end of lines from glasgow but only 30-45mins travel time and have outdoors-y vibes.

science centre, one of the parks, indoor climbing, cinema (all tickets £3 in most cinemas this saturday)??
