All areas of Glasgow the same?!

Hi! I am not from Glasgow or Scotland, but my partner is (cranhill). We’ve lived in the east end of Glasgow (cranhill and Easterhouse) for a few years. I lived in Edinburgh and England before that.
We are starting the conversation of buying a house eventually, and where to buy it (we are currently renting). I don’t want our daughter to grow up on this areas, they are very deprived and I think she won’t have the same opportunities as living in other areas. I also think other areas as nicer to live (although I’ve not been in many!!). I grew up in a medium to small sized Spanish village. My mother in law and partner say all areas of Glasgow are the same, that there is not much difference between cranhill and the south side or other areas. Is this true?! I don’t think so, but my partner seems to agree with my MIL, and I don’t know how to change his mind!

any areas or small to medium villages/towns that are nice, with a few things to do, near Glasgow (even Edinburgh, we’re not sure where his work will take him), and that are family orientated?

thanks!!

Glasgow is like every other city on the pkanet there are really deprived areas really upmarket crazy priced areas, studenty boho areas suburbs and everything in between
it is not a choice between Easterhouses Shettleston and drumchapel versus hyndland and jordanhill, there is the southside, Knightswood and yoker on the west as well as slightly further out, the West end is more expensive and there was something on news yesterday about Great Western Road from botanic gardens into the centre being one of the coolest streets anywhere
saying all Glasgow is the same is a bit like saying Tower hamlets and Knightsbridge are the same just London... if you said that you would definitely get the head tilt and tinkly laugh

I've lived in Springburn and I've lived in Hyndland. I noticed a difference or two!

I think your partner and his mum are just being loyal to their area. But they're wrong.

Dd would say the same, she went to school in one and lives in the other...

I only know some areas in Glasgow. My friend stays in Jordan hill which is nice and I think quite expensive. I stay in the central belt in the middle of Glasgow and Edinburgh (Bathgate) you'd get a fair sized property here for that price. Also West Lothian in general is a quiet area. Plus it's right in the middle so links to both Glasgow and Edinburgh. I'd say Bathgate, Livingston and the heartlands are good areas here too stay. Xxx

@Boybandfacedfannyfart my cousin stays there. Literal a small cottage on the side of a country road as you go towards the fort. It's lovely!
