Where to live in Stirling Scotland

We are looking to move to Stirling from Oxford. Never lived in Scotland before but really love the country. Thinking about buying a 3/4 bed house in Stirling. But not sure which area suits us the best. We don't have children, so school is not an issue. We would like to live somewhere quiet and scenic, but still has good access to train station and cafés. Get good elevation too. Our budget is up to £450k. Any recommendations? Thanks

Parts of Dunblane also have nice views, I used to be able to see Ben Ledi from my bedroom, until they built houses on the field behind, you'd have to buy one of those houses now...

Must be some good views in the estate off to the east side of Old Doune Road @Wbeezer? I'm sure we went to view something up there (about 20 years ago) but it wasn't for us. I'm sure it had some nice views though. Or those flats overlooking Laighills park? Or I guess those town houses up by the High school might have a good view across to Doune direction? You need to be happy driving in the snow for the old doune road houses, that's some hill in the winter.

Yes also some of the houses in the Barbush estate. Of course, we might have a different idea of what's a good view, fir me there has to be a vista of hills but for some people from flatter areas just a field and some trees counts.

Hi, I just wanted to come on here to write about Bannockburn. We moved here from Edinburgh in 2019 and have loved it. Although Bannockburn was traditionally quite a working class town in its own right, i feel like it's changed quite a bit in the last ten years or so. We bought a lovely 'B' listed (grade 2 in England) property in the Old Town of Bannockburn, right next to a fantastic river walk, waterfall and hugeee park if you have a dog and direct access to the countryside from our front door. We can see the cows from our window on the hill (again the views at the top!) but can be to the shops in five minutes.

There's also Bannockburn House, a 17th century mansion house that was bought out by the community as a land asset transfer in 2017 that really is transforming the community through social enterprise and volunteering with an aim of restoring the house itself and developing the local area.

Yes, the coffee shop situation isn't great, nor shops, but there is a lot going on in the community and everyone is extremely friendly. DH and I lived all over the UK and have never really been in a situation where my neighbours are friends but I would say that is the case here.

Anyway just thought I'd come on and write my part 🥰

p.s. may be a bit out of budget range but this is for sale in Bannockburn at the moment - it's one of the most prominent houses locally...
