Which mountain/ Munroe to climb?

Last year we climbed Ben Nevis, which we all enjoyed. We are back in Scotland in Aug, staying in Pitlochry.

We would love to do more hiking. Perhaps not as full on as Ben Nevis, but still a challenge and around a 4ish hour round hike.

Can anyone recommend a suitable mountain for us to tackle? Nothing dangerous, but still a challenge.

This is a great website and you should find something suitable here:

Ben Vrackie is nearby and not too tricky, although i didn't quite make it to the top as there was too much snow and wind on the day we tried!

Ben Lawers.

Agree with pp Ben Lawyers is a good option and look around glen lyon. The walkhighlands website has everything you need to chose a route. Enjoy

The Cairn Gorm. Just by the ski resort. Car park. Lovely climb that was tough in places, but manageable. And great wee cafe near the top

Schiehallion is a lovely mountain www.walkhighlands.co.uk/perthshire/schiehallion.shtml . I's a nice drive there from Pitlochry too, you can drive out via Loch Tummel (either the quiet backroad south side or via Queen's view on the north) and then over the pass to get back past Aberfeldy.

Ben Lawers can be busy and is also a bit of a drive.

The last part of my message has been eaten! If you do do Ben Lawers, you can do it as a part loop going one way up Loch Tay and the other way through Glen Lyon. Glen Lyon is beautiful and the cafe at the top end has amazing cakes!

It's Munro.

Ben Vrackie was a lovely walk. Amazing views from the top. But windy!
Just looked at my Strava - 8.5 miles, took us 3hrs 49. That may have included a stop whilst DH had to get his blood sugar up (T1 diabetic), I can't remember!
Started and finished in Pitlochry, and there's a great pub with its own microbrewery about a mile away from the end (the Moulin Inn).

It was a highlight of our holiday last year.

The Birks of Aberfeldy was a lovely short walk too.

Lots of paths alongside the river - by the fish ladder and beyond.

It's a really lovely area.

If you're staying in Pitlochry, and like curry, there was an excellent curry place on the edge of town - specialising in tiffin boxes and dishes you don't normally see on a menu. It was absolutely delicious.
