Parking at QEUH maternity

I'm being induced next week and have just spotted that the max time you can park there for is 4 hours - is there a patient car park or anything that lets you park for longer? I don't have family local to help with lifts and am struggling to figure this one out without a car in the mix (although I guess people without cars manage? No idea how!)

Any advice/local knowledge appreciated!

Check with the hospital as they used to allow those in labour park without charge.

Our maternity unit has no parking. We got a taxi there and then my husband went and got the car when we were ready to go home. Is that an option?

A few years ago, we were the same. We parked in the main parking and I put a note on the windscreen saying I was in labour, so please don't fine us. Seemed to work. 😁

Is the four hour limit a new thing? I parked in the multi storey beside the kids hospital in February and was there for over 24 hours without issue. Was meant to be a day case but had to stay the night and parking didn’t cross my mind as it was free. Good luck with your induction 😊

My DD gave birth at the QEMH a few weeks ago.Her DP parked the car in a large car park on Hardgate road opposite the hospital .You pay £5 at the hut on the way out.Her DP was at the hospital for over 12 hours the day DD gave birth and it was still £5 to park. I think it’s a flat fee.

I wouldn’t worry about the length of time. Pop a note on the dash explaining your in labour. The car park is horrifically tiny and you might be better parking in a&e (if the bouncers let you in!) or in one of the multi-storeys

You'd be better parking in one of the multi-story car parks. A&E and mat car parks are full before 8am. You'll definitely get a space in the multi story and you won't be hassled regarding time. Good luck!
