Would be very grateful for information from those that know Dunbar and surrounding areas. I can't afford North Berwick. Looking for good schools, reasonable commuter links, though hope to be mainly WFH, nice town with variety of shops and close to beach.

I stayed there for 20 years. It's a lovely town, very community minded. There are lots of community projects and I loved living there. I only left because of family commitments. I would recommend it and would move back if I could. Good communications to Edinburgh. Just looking at the sea made my day.

Know a couple of people who moved there and love it, believe good schools and housing options, and good train into Edinburgh.

Know it well, and it meets all of your criteria!

Watching with interest.

All sounding good so far. It's a massive move for us from other end of UK. Property market is worrying there but I guess will just have to get on it!

The High Street has a range of coffee shops, art galleries etc. There is a medium sized Asda on the outskirts. I can recommend the Community Bakery and the Community Carrot. These were community buy when the last bakers in the High Street and the Crunchy Carrot closed. There is a range of water sports based in Dunbar i.e surfing, wake boarding diving etc. There are also outdoors activities at Foxlake and East Links country park for all ages. We too hoped to move to North Berwick but we're priced out. But we were really glad that we ended up in Dunbar. I think it is friendlier. The doctor's surgery is good. DM me if you would like any further info.
