Hi, I have been accepted to Ayr college and am looking to move to central Ayr so I'm near the train and college. Myself and 11 year old son will be moving in time for him to start P7 . Has anyone else relocated recently and have any advice regarding areas, schools and housing? i have registered with the housing and am awaiting point allocation. I am most likely going to move firstly to a private let.
Thanks

Hi there . And good luck with your move ! I moved to Ayr Central from Cornwall last year and am so glad I made this choice . Super friendly , welcoming people ,great transport links ,,all the shops needed for day to day life with Glasgow under an hour away . Plus the beach and beautiful river . I bought my home and found the estate agents super helpful. . My family are adults now so don't know about schools though haven't heard anything screamingly awful . I live in the KA7 area ,just by the river and station . A few people thought this area wouldn't suit me as it's not regarded as a "naice area " but I love being in the middle of everything yet 7 minutes walk to the beach . If there's anything else I could help you with, please to PM me . I hope you'll both be very happy here . O and a 2 bed apartment in my area is from 550 per month .

Hi, I just wondered if you made the move to Ayr and if so how are you finding it? We are thinking of moving there this year with 2 kids, ages 7 and 11 because we need to be closer to better schools and more opportunities (currently living in a VERY rural area in D&G which I admit now was a bit of a mistake!). Would love to know other people's experiences of loving in Ayr.

Hi, never posted on MN before, hope this ends up in the right place. I'm going to be spending August 2023 in Ayr. I have an 8 and a 9 yr old. Is there any weekday kids clubs/day "camps" etc that I could sign them up for? Doesn't seem much info online. I would appreciate any recommendations. Thanks very much!

You could have a look at Vision Coaching who do school holiday clubs in Alloway. The schools go back on 21st Aug here though with 17th/18th being school inservice days so you might struggle to find much beyond the first 2 weeks. http://visioncoachingcamps.com/

@Garyjenksters Vision coaching are good and often staffed by trainee teachers/uni students. It would be worthwhile enquiring if anyone provides childcare outwith the sessions for the last fortnight in August when the schools go back.

South Ayrshire active schools do multi sport sessions/sailing etc but unsure if you need to be registered in a SA school to attend. They have social media if you want to send them a message.

The lawn tennis club run sessions over a week but only a few hours a day.

Many won’t be available to book yet.
