VBAC in Edinburgh

Does anyone have any experience of having a VBAC at Little France? I've heard rumours that you're not allowed to go to the birth centre, is this true? Were the staff supportive? My midwife said they might push for a c-section when they see the scar...would love to hear some other peoples experiences...

I wanted a section after an emergency section first time around. A year ago the hospital (simpsons) pretty much insisted I tried VBAC so I did. The baby got stuck, nearly died, brutal forceps, just totally and utterly horrendous. I know they are busy but the lack of medical attention in that place is just negligent. I’d never do anything other than a planned c section if I have another baby.

@Shellacbabe I'm so sorry you had such a traumatic experience 😔 x

Those in the know go to St John’s in Livingston to give birth as it has a much better reputation. The special care baby unit is not as specialised though. You might want to look at that option.

Can't help on VBAC I'm afraid but to say I had a wonderful first birth in the birth centre in 2017. I had second at home or I wouldn't have hesitated to go back. I felt listened to and we'll cared for. Not aiming to negate anyone else's experiences but just to share my own.

My VBAC baby is now 16 so I am well out of date but like @Shellacbabe said, we went to Livingston as they were much more flexible. The Infirmary were very 'you will have constant monitoring and you will have time limits' and I felt were setting up a situation for a repeat section when there was no indication one would be needed. St Johns were very 'we'll see what happens' and far less of a production line.
