February half term holiday ideas

So we were booked to go to Spain for half term but COVID is making that unlikely although if we catch it and recover before we're due to go we might still go as the risk of reinfection should be low.

I want to have a back up plan though and looking for some suggestions of where we could go in Scotland or North of England instead.

I've looked at crieff hydro and it's too £££. The lovely caravan park we like in Nairn is full and we've recently been to st Andrews so I would like somewhere new.

Kids are 2 and 7. Ideally somewhere with a pool and plenty to do for the wee ones!

I know most places will be booked up but hoping we can find something 🤞

To be honest, I wouldn't want to stay in a caravan in northern Scotland in Feb, it could be pretty chilly!
Aviemore McDonald resort
City break in Edinburgh or Glasgow (you might already live in one of these??)
Lake District - Whitecross Bay caravans / lodges site has a pool
Centre parcs (might fall into the £££ box at half term)

I have been looking at York. There are a couple of places with a pool including aparthotels.

We used to go to Piperdam in the February break and had some fab holidays there. Not sure if the accommodation is getting a bit dated (might have be spruced up since we last went) but with kids that might not be a priority.

Skiing at aviemore? Not sure what age tot's skiing starts at

We went to MacDonald Resort in Aviemore in Nov. The accommodation was a bit tired but there is so much to do. Pool is great and there is a soft play and activity centre bit too (with board games, craft tables etc) We went to Landmark and Highland Wildlife Park - would highly recommend both but the latter in particular. There was only one restaurant open within the resort but it was really good and a few eating options in the actual village of aviemore too.

Thanks all.

Agree a caravan could be a bit chilly. I looked at piperdam and McDonald Aviemore but limited or no availability.

Will check out the lake District - suspect we might have left it too late though ☹️

St. Ives hotel, St.Anne's. Beach walks, mini discos, family atmosphere.

We often go to Coldingham. Eyemouth has a pool nearby.

Crieff is pricey but is well worth it

Passed a place called Whitekirk hill that looked nice the other day, on way home from Berwick.
