I want to have a couple of nights away in a spa. Good food and drink and maybe some yoga

Anywhere between the borders and Aberdeen

Does anyone have a favourite they could recommend

I have a vague recollection of someplace in north Berwick but can't remember the name

personally I love Stobo although not cheap. Is the one in N Berwick the marina (or something like that)?

ecceromani · 13/01/2022 12:16

Norton House near Edinburgh airport

HGC2 · 13/01/2022 12:17

I do like stobo, pricey but worth it

gerardsbutler · 13/01/2022 13:39

Are you thinking of Archerfield OP?

I'm not a fan of Stobo. A bit like a cattle market but I known plenty who thoroughly enjoy it. What about Gleneagles or St Andrews?

mrstea301 · 13/01/2022 13:53

Norton house is nice, and gleneagles is lovely!! Stobo is on my wish list lol. My friend has been to archer field and said it was amazing.

I quite like the Westerwood and have had a couple of spa breaks there overnight, and recently did a spa day which was a couple of treatments, lunch and use of the pool facilities which was lovely!

CailleachGranda · 13/01/2022 14:20

Thank you all. Lots of lovely ideas

I've been to Stobo before so maybe something different

I like the spa at Portavadie although I've not been recently and it is a bit of a trek to get there. I've recently been to the one at Inglewood house in Alloa and it was nice.

OnceUponAWhine · 13/01/2022 16:35

Stobo is dated (restaurant and food choices) and overpriced, unless it’s changed, the bit where you sit and wait for your name to be called with lots of others, like a hospital appointment. I can’t imagine what it must be like if you have to wear masks in that bit too- not relaxing in the slightest.

Portavedie is nice, but remote, if you like that kind of location.
You mention the north Berwick one, years ago the McDonald hotel had nice facilities (hot tub outside overlooking beach) and I saw an ad for the new place there. If it’s had a refurb in same location with new owners, that would be worth a nosey.

I haven’t been to any sort of spa in ages as I don’t want to wear a mask inside for hours.

Groovee · 13/01/2022 19:34

Norton House I love for being quiet.

My friend went to the McDonald hotel in Grangemouth. She liked it.

Gleneagles was a lovely treat from my friend last year.

CailleachGranda · 13/01/2022 20:46

I want to go on my own so would like something quiet

I'm going to Google all these suggestions

Last time I was at stobo we had to sit at big tables for dinner which had the potential to be quite awkward.

I want to go to stobo, portavadie and taymouth marina at the moment

ParkheadParadise · 13/01/2022 20:50

Gleneagles is my number 1 choice.
Going back next month for the weekend with DH and friends.
Mar Hall was also good.

Thecurtainsofdestiny · 13/01/2022 21:00

I like the look of this, though I have not been:

www.fonabcastlehotel.com/spa/

Kshhuxnxk · 13/01/2022 21:27

Highly recommend www.kimptonblythswoodsquare.com/

hemhem · 13/01/2022 21:32

Mar Hall or Blythswood Square would get my votes!

HeCalledMeAddie · 15/01/2022 09:35

I enjoyed Seamill hydro, it sits on the beach and I liked being able to walk up the beach and the views are gorgeous. That was in the summer though not sure how it would be in the winter!

Tig33 · 15/01/2022 09:52

I would recommend the Old Course Hotel in St Andrews (even no if you have no interest in golf!) it is lovely and you are near the beach and the town. One Spa in Edinburgh is amazing but I think some of it is out of action at the omens but I have spent days there on my own and enjoyed it. I don’t rate archerfield as it doesn’t have a pool. Personally I think a spa needs a pool as I love to swim. Even if you are not keen on actually swimming the pool is somewhere to hang around and that is missing at archerfield unless it has changed since I was there. When we went we were basically shooed off after our treatments when we just wanted to relax. I have also heard good things about portvadie and would like to try that.

unknownscot · 15/01/2022 14:08

Sheraton Edinburgh- ensure it's a club and spa room

Icannever · 15/01/2022 18:40

Old course in st.Andrews and the fairmount hotel just outside St.Andrews both have very nice spa areas

CailleachGranda · 16/01/2022 00:48

Have been googling like mad

I like the look of blythswood. The hotel at kinloch rannoch looks nice too

I want to lounge about all day in a robe and eat lovely food

Don’t rate Stobo at all. Too busy and found the therapists quite inexperienced. Also, odd sitting in stuffy dining room with people dressed up for lunch.

Just back from Gleneagles - out of this world. Phenomenal spa and superb hotel service.

Heard great things about Fonab and Blythswood Square. Mixed views on Westerwood.

GoGoGretaDoll · 19/01/2022 20:33

I don't rate Blythswood Square at all, it's horrendously noisy because it's all underground so once the jets come on you basically have groups shouting at each other to be heard - it's the opposite of relaxing.

Gleneagles is amazing but £££. Love the One Spa but most of it is still shut. Fonab is next on my list, friend loves Mar Hall.

StarryEyeSurprise · 19/01/2022 21:18

Oh I hated the Sherston Spa - found ut really rundown. Love Blythswood! Must try Gleneagles!

Chocolateporridge · 19/01/2022 21:30

I've heard that Portavadie Spa is nice!

anonanonanon123 · 19/01/2022 21:34

Dunkeld house hotel
