Where to go shopping (clothes & home) from Fife

Need some help, moved here from England in the spring, love it (DH grew up here and parents still here and I have family connections going back generations here too). One thing I'm missing is SHOPPING!

We're in a small area in NE Fife obvs knew I would need to travel but are Edinburgh and Glasgow the only real options for a good shop, we regularly go into St Andrews and Dundee but they're not hitting the mark.

I have never been that pleased with Edinburgh shopping wise, much prefer Glasgow but it feels like such a slog drive wise from here! Looking for somewhere with a decent mix of high end and high street and some nice homewhere shops (not like your Homesense/TKaxx I can easily get to one of those in Dundee) I'm thinking ones that area solidly better quality....and not hit and miss like those, something like Oka or Neptune Home if anyone has heard of those.

Online is firmly doing my head in now!

I find Livingston good for shopping. There's the Designer Outlets (gap, nike, Adidas, Tommy hilfiger, next, clarks, Ted Baker + lots of outdoor brands) and also The Centre (h&m, Debenham, Primark, M&S, next, topshop New look etc) , then there's a couple of retail parks with homeware and furniture shops like TKMaxx.

Ditto Livingston

Edinburgh is going to be your best bet by a country mile overall; while it doesn’t have an OKA or a ‘proper’ Neptune it does have a wealth of great independent interiors stores - Jessica Buckley, Catalog Ltd, Nordic by Biehl, Ampersand, Jeffreys Interiors, Time & Tide to name a few of varying styles and price points. There’s a Neptune concession at Richard F. Mckay but I’ve never been myself.

With the best will in the world, Fife is not the Home Counties, and shopping opportunities are going to be more limited! Can recommend a couple of excellent antique dealers in that direction though if that floats your boat.

When I was a kid in the East neuk all we had was m&co and then finally new look. The Overgate was VERY exciting when it was built Grin

I'd often venture to Glasgow or even up to Aberdeen sometimes, can't stand Edinburgh for shopping. Livi is a good shout.

Edinburgh shopping is better now the new St James quarter has opened!

@LoopyGremlin makes an excellent point, I’d say Edinburgh is loads better than Glasgow now - Harrods Beauty, &Other Stories, Mango, Aesop… Though again I think there are loads of hidden gem independent shops which make shopping in Edinburgh so much better - around Stockbridge, New Town, Bruntsfield particularly.
