Conflicting Isolation Advice-clarify?

Hi all,
I completed 10 day isolation on 26th after testing positive.
2 days later my daughter tested positive on lft.
I phoned the Helpline 0800 regarding whether I had to isolate or not. Was told yes,I would need to begin 10 day isolation again if her pcr was positive.
When she went for PCR and when my partner asked staff there, they said I didnt have to isolate .
Conflicting advice- do I isolate or not? Her PCR was positive.

From what I gather you don't have to isolate. She will have caught the same strain as you have had and at this moment you will be immune, you can't catch the same strain (or any other strain I think) back so soon. Was your daughter also isolating with you for the 10 days?

If your daughter tested positive (started symptoms) during your isolation you would not have to re isolate.

If her symptoms/positive test were after your isolation ends you do re isolate I’m afraid.
Hope you are both ok.

Thanks for replying. Yes whole family isolated when I was positive. I was in a bedroom for 10 days and rarely saw her, but who knows where she might've got it from .
Just confused by 2 official guidelines being conflicting. I'd have thought I'd be ok as I'm triple jagged and should have some Omicron immunity. The rest of family now in second 10 day isolation ... this could go on a bit 👀

How did you find out you had Omicron ? My brother asked and was told they couldn’t tell him what he had. Wonder if different areas are giving out that information.

I thought if you had done your 10 days you were clear even if another member of your family tested positive

Imagine 4 of you all testing positive 9 days apart ..you would all be insolation for about 6 weeks. That can't be right

Hi there.
I was in this situation a few weeks ago. My daughter tested positive on my day 11 or 12. She came out of isolation with me after my 10 days. Other two family members were positive so they had a few more days to go. I phoned the helpline to check this and they said there had been a recent rule change where if the new positive was within 14 days of yours then you didn't need to do another 10 days. Just the new person who tested positive. At the time I couldn't find this online but assumed it was because it was such a recent update. I've never gone back to check it.

Strictly speaking if your original isolation finished then you are supposed to isolate if ssomeone tests positive after that. If she had tested posituve while you were still isolating then you wouldn't.

I wish they'd make it more like the English rules tbh as we are currently isolating as contacts even though only dh has had a positive test

Weirdly Ive just gone to check the guidance and it says nothing about the 14 days. Just says you need to restart. That's awful that I was told that on the phone but no notice of it anywhere. I definately didnt hear wrong, we went back and forth on it, discussed the exact details and dates etc, he spoke about how the rule had only just been updated a few hours before. Now it looks like I should have gone back in for ten days with my daughter!!!

Hope you get some clarity. I did notice it's now clearer in the guidance about taking lateral flows as a household contact if you've recently had covid, rather than pcrs if it's within 90 days. Two lateral flows on different days in place of a PCR.

The 10 days isolation tor fully vaccinated people with a positive family member seems out of step with many countries now.
They know most omicron infections show in 2-5 days.
I know 3 households who have all just finished their isolation. In 2 out of the 3 households no-one else caught covid. In the 3rd household 1 person tested positive/symptoms on day 4.
