Question re my usual pharmacy is shut tomorrow

My aerochamber which I use with my inhaler seems to have somehow got worn ie the rubber has got worn and is not engaging the inhaler properly. I googled and my usual Lloyds is closed until Wednesday. Will any pharmacy give me a new aerochamber as an emergency and then ask the gp for a prescription afterwards?
I guess it’s not medication I’m asking for, effectively it’s a tube of plastic so hopefully more likely?
Thanks

Yes they can it’s on the pharmacy prescribed medication list, whilst not medication!

Thanks! I will go to the pharmacy in an Asda or Morrison’s tomorrow

Just thought- have never done this so I’m guessing they don’t need proof of who I am? Will bring some kind of i.d just in case…

You don’t need a prescription, they’re about £10-15, your own pharmacy you use regularly may lend you one and wait for a script (Obviously as it’s closed not an option). Otherwise another pharmacy would charge you an emergency supply fee anyway. You could pay and ask if you physically brought the script in a few days they may give you a refund.

Thanks, no worries- I don’t mind paying at all.
I didn’t realise a fee would apply in Scotland but it’s no issue. I’d just be grateful to get one

You may get it free, depends if the pharmacist that day works under a patient group directive, some do and some don’t. Hope you get sorted tomorrow

I don't know about Scotland, but always thought children or adults with special needs can get them on the NHS, but others had to buy them! You can get them online and off the shelf in pharmacies. Can you use your inhaler without one till the shops re-open and buy another?

Wintersnowy123 · 27/12/2021 01:03

I can use my inhaler without one for a few days but not as effective as less gets into your lungs
I’d rather buy one if that was the case

You don't pay in Scotland, I've done this very thing. I hope you get it sorted.

I definitely had to pay for one in Scotland. Very annoying as if I had thought about it in time I could have ordered one on a prescription. Costs £10-15.

StarryEyeSurprise · 27/12/2021 09:47

Ah ok, yeah we got one free on prescription when we were on holiday.
