Anyone know if Scotland will follow the English rules? Any rumours?
We’ve tested +ve in Scotland and live in England, keen to get back home but know we need to follow the rules.

Strange question you pose, OP… Are you on holiday? Are you too ill to travel/have any symptoms? You’re not a prisoner. You’re not abroad. If you’re driving, just head home whenever. If train or plane, use common sense, maybe wait for your first negative test/know that sitting on any public transport coughing and spluttering with or without covid confirmed is pretty horrid for your fellow passengers and the onboard staff as you travel in the U.K.

Overall, you highlight the ridiculous difference in guidance between parts of the U.K. but I wish you well and hope you can get home soon.

We are at my parents and one of the 4 of us has it. If we drive it’s 12 hours to get home, too far for one day with 2 young kids. We have literally been here one day so it’s a lot to go straight back in the car. And I don’t
We are isolating the adult at this house, most concerned about passing it on to my parents but for now seems the best option.

Honestly, you don’t need Mumsnet to say use common sense. You’re not stuck abroad. It’s guidance based on 7 days for England
first negative test result and that’s where you live, so🤷‍♀️
I know what I’d be doing, but you have to to do what’s best for your family with two young children…or were you intending to be here for Christmas anyway? In which case, have a good time, hope none of you have proper symptoms/illnessXmas Grin

LizzieMacQueen · 22/12/2021 09:56

You cannot travel if one of you is positive. It's not allowed surely?

So, stay put and enjoy your Christmas. Hope no one becomes very unwell of course.

Waterdropsdown · 22/12/2021 10:29

We aren’t going to travel, I wanted to know if Scotland will reduce the isolation period to 7 days so we can get home sooner

Being considered says Swinney according to BBC News. We might know this afternoon.

Lidlfix · 22/12/2021 12:37

Clerk, where did you see that? That would make things a bit more bearable here. Clutching at glimmers of hope.

ElephantOfRisk · 22/12/2021 13:36

I heard that on the radio news too @ClerkMaxwell and @Lidlfix

duvetdrama · 22/12/2021 13:51

Being considered...I'm waiting patiently for this too but it does depend on the positive person getting a negative LF...my understanding was that tests show up
positive for quite a bit after?

BBC News - Covid in Scotland: Self-isolation change 'considered' to tackle staff absences

Thanks all. "Considering " well I am considering identifying my family as English and acting sensibly and allowing my DD to leave her room if she no longer is infectious . Which 2 negative LFTS would show.

Lidlfam have been compliant as DH and I's careers are such that a breach of Covid regs would be considered gross professional misconduct.
