Oh dear. Do you think we’re going to have restrictions in? I feel like I’ve got Stockholm syndrome and I don’t remember how bad it was or how it all starts!?
She looked pretty unhappy in the announcement..

She always has to go harder than Boris so yes I expect more to come very soon!

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 10/12/2021 13:56

Just reading about it now in the media, but I await the dozens of posts on here saying she loves it, she's a control freak who couldn't wait to lock us all down again, and how she only lives to shaft Boris, as if the new wave of a vastly more transmissible strain of the virus isn't a global phenomeon being dealt with across the world by tightening of measures.

TheRemotePart · 10/12/2021 14:25

@BlameItOnTheBlackStarGrin

She looked absolutely done in today :(

That’s my DC Xmas parties getting cancelled now. Hope his wee playgroup are still allowed meet …

Not sure what other areas look like but I am in NHS Grampian and the booster roll out seems to be shambolic. While other areas offer over 40s walk in s , I have several friends in their 50s & 60s who have been unable to get an appointment.
So it would not be surprising to learn that we have rapid transmission and R number over 3 , plus a rise in other general winter viruses which put a strain on NHS.
I am desperately sorry for the hospitality industry though, as once again they are thumped at the worst time of year.
I am absolutely no fan of Nicola ( norBoris if anyone cares) but I have some sympathy for her - it’s a horrible load she has had to carry these last 2 years.

MrsPerfect12 · 10/12/2021 15:02

Defo more restrictions ahead, this is the start. I've got a big bring a party to a party thing on Sat and just waiting to hear if it will be cancelled.

Littleelffriend · 10/12/2021 15:06

@Quickchangeartiste I’m also in Grampian I’m only 39 no health issues and I’ve had my booster, just made an appointment online

Quickchangeartiste · 10/12/2021 16:17

Hi @Littleelffriend well there you go !
I had mine about a month ago as cev, DH, 60, was deferred until his 6 months was up then couldn’t get booked before 20 Dec. Despite being told he was a priority because of my health status. Elderly mother in law just got hers last week.
As I say, it’s shambolic , and a bit senseless the way it’s been applied.

Quickchangeartiste · 10/12/2021 16:21

@Littleelffriend I don’t begrudge you being done btw 😄

Really? Hasn't been my experience at all. I'm in the 50's age group and myself, DH and everyone I know of our age has easily booked and already had their booster. Same NHS area.

readsalotgirl63 · 10/12/2021 16:39

Im also in Grampian and have to say that's not been my experience. DH (early 60's) was called as soon as he was 24 weeks past his 2nd dose and than I made an appointment ( late 50s).

When I went it was busy with a bit of a queue.

RaraRachael · 10/12/2021 16:46

I'm in Grampian and just booked online for my booster. I'm thoroughly fed up of this now, Is this going to be our lives forever now? Variant a, B, C......... for ever?

So, so fed up Sad

Turquoisesol · 10/12/2021 17:10

Yes I am dispairing of it all. We get vaccinated, test frequently, take sensible precautions. But it still isn’t enough. Getting concerned where this is going this time. Don’t want an overwhelmed health system but also don’t want to end up in lock down again

Ianrankinfan · 10/12/2021 17:45

Kate Forbes has said that we can’t afford to pay businesses on furlough unless the Westminster Gov agrees withthis measure . Any restrictions that allow only essential shops to open may cost the Uk economy £6 billion for every month of lockdown. If there is no financial support from the Government then at least half a million jobs could be lost. Another lockdown could increase the number of unemployed to around 2 million. The highest since 2014. Source KPMG.
It’s a terrible situation.

GaolBhoAlba · 10/12/2021 18:08

There is next to nothing known as yet about omicron. To my knowledge, Sturgeon is the only leader (world wide) who has addressed the nation in this way - ie conveying knowledge in such an incredibly pessimistic way; her manner suggested she had tangible evidence, and she simply doesnt, no one does.

Omicron doesnt frighten me, Nicola Sturgeon though terrifies me. If she had the financial means, I believe she'd have announced a lock down today 😧

She claimed too, earlier this week, that the 'protections' she retained (face coverings etc) had slowed delta, and that is simply not true. Scotland has fared no better than England in terms of cases, hospitalisations and deaths.

Bojo is habitually challenged by MPs on his own back bench, however she is never challenged on her extreme reactions; theyre probably too frightened to cross her.

Argyll and Bute here, my 3 DC from 26 to 34 all went to a walk in clinic last Friday and got their boosters no problem.
TheRemotePart · 10/12/2021 18:12

@Ianrankinfan I guess that’s what she’ll be talking to bojo about in the cobra meeting Hmm
He ll fight a lockdown til about 5 mins before ,again, and then do one.

Another in Grampian. Dh (early 40s) got sent a letter for his booster and the flu jab a few weeks ago. I had no issues booking myself an appointment online for next week.

Still very fed up though.

ecceromani · 10/12/2021 18:17

WHO has been very clear from the start.
Lockdowns are NOT the answer so I don't know why Govs still persist with this. They are a sticking plaster. A very very expensive sticking plaster

Heathcliff27 · 10/12/2021 18:31

NHs Grampian here, I've had my booster, DH getting his on Sunday, he went on last night and got it booked. I will be very pissed off if my work do is cancelled on Friday! And deacon blue next weekend too Sad

tothesea · 10/12/2021 18:47

I’m in Lothian aged 53 and tried to book my booster this week. I’ve had the flu jab so I had to call rather book online..earliest appt they could give me was 31/01/22 ☹️

horseymum · 11/12/2021 08:29

It's so frustrating the whole household having to isolate if one case again, it would ruin any last few plans for Christmas.

StarsOnAMat · 11/12/2021 08:53

I’m under 40 and in Forth Valley. Was sent an appt for the flu jag clinic as I’m asthmatic and everyone who qualified for the covid booster (as in more than twelve weeks from second jag) was given it if they wanted it, regardless of age. That was two weeks ago. I now have covid and have given it to DH. I suppose it’s better he has it now rather than picking it up later in the winter and I’d have to stay home with him even though I’ve now had three jags and the bloody illness itself.

TheRemotePart · 11/12/2021 10:27

I suppose they’re just trying to save the workforce.
Cos there’s no furlough or money available ( yet) from treasury.
I expect workplaces will hush up any cases,as they are doing in DHs workplace

Does anyone know if you still have to isolate if someone in your house tests positive and you have just had it? Very confused right now!

Buttercup72 · 11/12/2021 11:46

I think it’s 10 days isolation if someone in the house is positive.
