Specifically Ayrshire and Arran?

I was wondering what date they pay you on. Is it the same date calendar monthly? I can't seem to find any indication online.

I'm due to start a new job in this healthboard after Christmas and want to know if I'll be fucked over by the two paydays in one assessment period Universal Credit mess.

Pretty sure all NHS places are the same. The 27th unless it's a weekend then the Friday before that

I'm NHS Tayside and it varies wildly, even within our trust as some jobs, like domestics, get paid weekly. I'm the last Thursday of the month, but it actually goes in on wed. So I got paid today, but for tomorrow.

But in June 2021 we got paid on wed the 23rd because the last Thursday of the month was the 24th. Next month it should technically be wed the 29th fir the 30th, but we get paid early in Dec, usually around the 23rd.

And then get a massive gap till the end of Jan, only 5 weeks this year, but one year it was nearer 7 as we got paid early and the jan last Thursday was the 31st!

NHS Lothian pays last Thursday in the month. Every year Christmas pay is the Thursday before Christmas and January is paid 1 week early.

The Christmas pay arrangements should be on A&A intranet if anyone can look them up for you. Maybe the manager in the dept you're going to?

Thanks, I'm still in the process of having all my PVG checks and references processed so don't have much information about finer details yet and the person who I've been corresponding with is off for a fortnight.

I managed to find Greater Glasgow and Clyde and Grampian on Google amongst others but A&A doesn't show up at all.

Most that I have worked for are the last Thursday of the month (if you are paid monthly).

5 week months are a killer!

You usually get paid early before Xmas, so January can be a long month.

ElephantOfRisk · 24/11/2021 14:10

DH does (not for A&A) and I always thought it was pretty random. However i've just looked back and it is the last Thursday of the month but in December it's paid on the Thursday prior to Christmas - so it appears. It's amazing all the different systems jobs have for deciding pay days. I had a job where pay day was the Wednesday prior to the 27th of the month so if the 27th was a Wednesday, we'd get paid on the 20th!

ElephantOfRisk · 24/11/2021 14:13

Currently mine (non NHS) is the 25th unless that's a weekend or public holiday and then it's the last working day prior. we usually get paid a little early for Christmas but not usually as much as week. I suspect December will be paid on 22nd or 23rd.

If you are concerned that your pay dates might affect your UC payments, let your case manager know and they can in some instances make an adjustment. I am in the same boat. Get paid 15th of the month, but in January will get paid on the 14th as the 15th is a Saturday. This will essentially give me two 'pay days' in same assessment period. (Used to be a case manager for UC so I know they can adjust earnings within certain criteria) best to let them know in advance so you're prepared.

PinkBallPit · 24/11/2021 16:03

Thanks @Lily019 that's really good to know. I intend on leaving them a note to inform them of the change in job anyway so I'll include that as well.

If it's calendar monthly on the 27th it would barely affect me as I currently get paid monthly on the 28th, but if its the last Thursday of the month I'll be in difficulty. It's a ridiculous system.

I do recall that several claimants on my caseload were paid the last Thursday of the month ( NHS) and this was a common occurrence. This can be resolved though just by communicating this to the case manager. They will in turn pass the wages info to the relevant team and an adjustment can be made in certain scenarios. I just happened to read somewhere just a few days ago that you should tell your case manager in advance, but unsure how that would help as the exact salary details need to be passed to the relevant department. (So essentially you will have to wait to be paid first) I am assuming some further improvements have been made to the process since I left a few months back.

PinkBallPit · 24/11/2021 16:36

Thankyou, that's actually really helpful as I assumed that if it did affect me I'd just have to suck it up. I have nothing to lose by enquiring which I wouldn't have known I could do without your post.

If I manage to find out for certain what my paydates will be, I can start by letting them know that even if I don't know amounts etc. It'll be a bit messy in the first month or so anyway as I'll have the remaining wage from my current employer, first wage from new employer and a UC payment all within a few days of each other 🤦‍♀️

A&A are paid on the last Thursday of every month, however it is always in your account the day before. December pay always goes in prior to Christmas, it is the 23rd this year (and December into January will be a 5 week month).

PinkBallPit · 24/11/2021 18:07

Thanks for that Gaol! At least I can plan ahead now I know for sure.

I’m GG&C now and previously NHS24 and we have always been the last Thursday of the month.

newbeginnings22 · 07/01/2022 00:13

Wed before the last Thurs of the month... is what I was always told
