Wondering if anyone can tell me what this course entails. My DD in 5th year was told she meets the criteria to apply.

She is already doing 5 highers this year and I'm worried the workload will be too much.
The career teacher said it's great to do as you will get an insight into course and possibly reduced grade offer. She has a detailed application form to do first.

Has anyone any experience of this course and its value on top of a very work heavy year?

Not recently but DS2 did a general GU Top-up course at school in S5 five years ago. It wasn't too much work as the course was run during a PHSE period (or whatever its called) so he didn't miss anything. I think he had a few tasks to do (including a final essay) plus a uni visit with example lectures where you had to take notes etc. He said it wasn't too much work but my DS2 is a just enough sort of person. I think he recycled stuff he had previously written for the essay.

There were other courses for law/medicine which were different so worth checking.

@ClerkMaxwell thank you. It's for medicine. Think it will all be online this year sadly. Pre covid they would have a week at uni and given a taste of what the course would be like.

I'm worried the assignments will take a lot of time and research when she has constant tests exams and deadlines with Highers. The teacher says it's done in their own time as organised by the uni. She's probably going to proceed anyway.

Good that she is going to proceed as the boosts for medicine are very good. Not sure if it has changed but I know in DDs year friends got a 10% boost on UCAT scores and got Glasgow and Edinburgh interviews.
