Does anyone know how many days you need to call in for? Ie how many days are you initially "on call" for? Y letter just says "you may be required for several days" . I get that might be the same case if you are actually selected, but I'm just trying to work it he many days I'll need to call in for. I've done it twice before but cannot recall. Is it 1 week?

I am of course going to call tomorrow to ask but I keep on forgetting to do so, so thought I'd ask here too in case I forget again!

It's usually a minimum of a week. But if you're lucky and they've not called you by the 4th day and/or the trial you're on finished on the 4th day, they might discharge you then.

My colleague had to phone up Tuesday/We'd/Thursday and on the Friday had to go in to the court only to get away about 12.

As a nursery it was a nightmare as I was the one on standby to cover her on my days off.

I've so far been called (I think - I lose count Wink) 5 times and had to serve three times. Finished on the Friday twice and once on the Thursday. Asked the clerk on the Thursday time that I not come in on the Friday to be selected again as I had some important work meetings the following week and she was ok about that.

I'm 60 now and first got called when I was 36 Shock

At least nowadays you can just call in every night if you're not called - you used to have to physically go to the court every day in the morning and possibly the afternoon Shock

I had to phone on the Sunday night and got a recorded message telling me to phone again on Monday night.

Monday's message told me someone would phone me on Tuesday morning if I was needed and if no-one had phoned by 1pm I was free.

I got a phone call at 12pm asking if I could be on a jury for a case that would run on to the following Tuesday. I said no because it was the September weekend and we were planning to be away on the Monday.

So they discharged me. No questions about our holiday or anything.
