Greenock/ Port Glasgow

As anyone trying to rent in Glasgow atm will know there is incredibly high demand. 6 months of viewings has yielded nothing. That’s across the city, southside and parts of Renfrewshire and SL/NL.

We have been forced to branch out. I am well aware of the deprivation and substance misuse in these areas and of all the semi derelict buildings in port glasgow but we do need somewhere to live.

PG and Greenock and both by the Clyde, scenic ish views across the water and very affordable.

We are sick of the big city grind and bustle. I already commute 20 minutes (shift worker so not as affected by traffic). An extra 2-10 minutes is fine.

So yeah I’m looking for an honest account of these areas, good and bad.

We both come from what would be seen as ‘shithole’ parts of England so we have no delusions of grandeur.

I stay in Houston. Very handy for commuting and not too far from good shopping centres and the seaside. There's a 2 bedroom house on Rightmove at the moment for rent. Well within budget, not sure what size you're looking for

I might be missing something completely here but surely it's not about the area if OP keeps getting rejected? It's not like all the landlords in X area have decided that OP isn't getting to rent on their patch?

So there must be something else going on. I know availability isn't great and things might not come up much in preferred areas/streets but surely with the width of the net cast there must be something?

I'd make an appointment with a couple fo the bigger agencies and discuss with them what you need, make friends with them and se if you can get early notice of things coming up that fit the brief but at least find out exactly what is making you miss out and address that as far as you can.

I'm not great with Glasgow and areas but what about coatbridge/airdie areas?

Thanks, that would be the housing crisis and the 300-400% demand to supply across glasgow meaning everyone was able to be very picky
