When i went to school i always thought we had 6 weeks off.

My children are off a day short of 8 weeks this year.
It was 7 weeks the previous two years.

Has anyone elses councils done similar. They must be taking days from other holidays as we do get the 190 days in school normally.

I think i would prefer them split up throughout the year than in one big block.

Yes, they do, but she doesn't want to go. She has Tourette's so really does better in smaller, less chaotic groups. A gym hall full of strange kids running around isn't her happy place, let's put it that way Grin

Pressed send too soon - agree about the sports clubs, they add another layer of complexity if you're working.

We've had DS in football camp but it's not easy picking up and dropping off at such stupid times. Mid-morning and mid-afternoon are not ideal for nipping out of the office...

That's a shame she doesn't want to go. One advantage of going to out of school care with kids from other schools is it increases their social network for the transition to secondary.

Yes, that's true. I just couldn't face sending her really. And she's at an age where she can kick around in the park with her friends, she's been out almost every day some weeks. Sometimes having no plans is a good thing.

Yes, my dd would feel punished include if I sent her to a sports camp (and I'd have felt the same as a child) and hates clubs with people she doesn't know.

There aren't enough crafts or small group options.
