Moving to Bearsden with 3 year old

Hi all. My husband is thinking of applying to a job in Bearsden. We are currently in Stirling and we have a 3 year old. Our daughter recently moved to a new nursery here and she is happy. There are also lots of places to go with her in our doorstep like Safari Park, Briarlands Farm, Trampoline Park etc. She is happy in the nursery and gets to do lots of fun things on the weekend. She has a good life here. Are there children farms etc in Bearsden as well ? I guess the schools are good in the area aren't they ? If we move to Bearsden we'll likely have a house with a bigger garden but i don't want to move if there is not as many kids activities nearby and if nurseries are not as good . Thanks.

I think your worries are misplaced as there are plenty of families that move to Bearsden for the nursery and school provision. Early years centres are opening in Bearsden and Milngavie. All the amenities of Glasgow are available and also plenty of local ones.
The problem is the shortage of family accommodation to rent or buy at the moment. I don't know why this is but it is bad at the moment. Would your husband commute?

Bearsden is a very family-orientated place. There are LOADS of small children, people move here particularly for the schools. There's a brand new early years centre going up on Drymen Road, plenty of other nurseries and pre-schools, all the good primary schools have a great reputation. There are loads of groups like Brownies/Cubs, there is a new sports centre under construction with a pool for every sports related club you can think of. There's drama, music, toddler groups, loads of things. You will not be bored.
There isn't a children's farm but that's hardly a deal breaker is it?

The nurseries and schools are excellent here. Edenmill is only a 15 minute drive.
We often drive to Blairdrummond, briarlands etc from here for days out so it's not exactly far.
Plenty of sports, dancing, gymnastics clubs etc.
Do you have a particular area of bearsden in mind and we could maybe advise further?

I don't mean to be rude, but when you're talking about farms/trampoline parks etc, you do realise you'll be moving to Glasgow, a city with quite likely more and different things to offer?

I mean it doesn't have a Safari park, but not many places do, and lots of us do days out there anyway!

It sounds like you're not on board with the idea of a move and are looking for reasons to dismiss it.

I think that although Glasgow and Edinburgh do have loads going on, it's hard to see past living in a small city with loads of stuff available within a few minutes, mostly not worrying about parking, traffic etc. And then also the unfamiliarity of a new start can be daunting.

I think you need to both be on-board with it though. Try some trips out that way and get a feel for things.
