Long weekend Fife coast

Am looking to book a long weekend for just me and DP on the Fife coast this summer. We'll most likely just be doing walking and relaxing, which town/village would be best to base ourselves?

Depends what you are looking for but you can't go wrong with St Andrew's, Anstruther and Elie. They all have different things to offer

St Andrews

SoMuchForSummerLove · 03/05/2021 14:50

Elie, I absolutely love it there. And you're close to lots of other wee places, Anstruther, East Wemyss, etc.

I've been to Elie for a day, it is lovely. Saw a nice looking hotel in Kinghorn but not sure if that area is as nice as further up the coast.

Pittenweem or Crail nice too.

Fivemoreminutes1 · 03/05/2021 16:57

Another vote for Crail

Everywhere is so close that I'd choose the accommodation over the village!

The Ship Inn in Elie is a lovely restaurant with rooms, right at the beach. It's a beautiful part of the world.

florafoxtrot · 03/05/2021 19:29

Another vote for Elie! The Ship Inn is amazing and has a really nice outdoor seating area for drinks (obviously bring some thermals!) where we sat and watched some windsurfers. Would love to go back

Th Fife coastal path is beautiful. Can you book a few places and walk between them? St Andrews is gorgeous but it always makes me feel wistful for my youth.

theotherfossilsister · 03/05/2021 19:31

Oh also there's a beautiful hotel which is an old library building in Anstruther.

Agree with the previous poster that everywhere is fairly close together so go with nice accommodation rather location. But I am east neuk born and bred if I was pushed my list would go:

  1. Crail
  2. Elie
  3. Pittenweem
  4. Anstruther/Cellardyke
  5. St Monans

Don't forget the outlier villages like Kingsbarns, Largo and Kilconquahar either.

Thanks, this is really helpful. Seems a lot of people have had the same idea as things are booked up so I'd better get a move on!
