ASN provision

Hoping someone can give me some advice.
I currently work an as asn assistant at a mainstream school. My son also attends an asc base within another mainstream school his school has been subject to constant staff changes which is having a negative impact on the class as management are allowing teaching assistants to teach the class when a teacher isn’t available. The assistants are amazing in the base but personally I don’t think it’s fair on them or the children.
I also have 2 daughter who are in p7 and p5, both have an asc diagnosis and are attending mainstream schools, I’m concerned however about my eldest daughter as she is due to start high school this year and I haven’t had good reports on the support given at the high school she’s due to go to.
Any guidance and help on “good” high schools and primary bases anywhere in Scotland would be so appreciated. We’re in a fortunate position that we can move so I’m trying my best to find the best possible support for the kids.
Thank you 😊

I'm in North Lanarkshire and ASN provision is pretty poor and even what is available you have to fight tooth and nail for.

Even with an ASN diagnosis it's still not a guarantee of a place in an ASN base even within a mainstream environment. I'm not sure where you're based at the moment but certainly here in NL there are just not enough places for kids that require ASN support.

Might be an idea to contact education departments at individual councils to see what there policies are with regards to ASN places. Demand is always high and places rarely become available as the parents have battled so long for their child to get the place that they don't give them up.

West Dunbartonshire.
I feel there are certainly good bases and provision for Primary children. There are various Bases in Primary and a specialist Primary School . As far as Secondary provision they have one specialist secondary . If you require mainstream Secondary and support Bases then I think it's rather different. The Learning Support bases in individual schools would support individuals.
I've no idea how this might compare to the picture across the country.

For specific advice like this, I'd recommend asking this on the Facebook groups for the local areas you're interested in, tell whoever the admin is about the situation and that you're thinking of moving to the area @Claudia2021

Hard to get any comparison across areas though, gathering information from parents in the area is all I could think to do.
