Travel from Scotland to Northern Ireland

My son and his girlfriend moved to Northern Ireland last summer and we have only seen them once since then. I am considering travelling over to see them soon. In Northern Ireland the rules are that one household can form a bubble with another household so we would be forming one bubble. We would have to isolate for 10 days though so wouldn't be able to leave their flat. Am I correct with my understanding of the rules and can anyone offer any advice on when might be a good time to attempt the trip?

Yes I saw that, it is saying as far as Scotgov is concerned you can travel around what appears to be the whole of the UK from 26 April but NI government website you are not allowed to enter unless for work, funeral, wedding and so on, it is going to be reviewed in the coming weeks apparently

I know people who travel back and forth every week and they tell me the plane has lots of people on it and they've never been asked anything about reasons for travel. That's England to NI.

Just look at the local registry office website to your son for a list of weddings..... Pick one which the dates suit and then you have your "valid reason"

Thank you so much @scottishskifun and @StarryEyeSurprise 😘

I don't think anyone will question you if you want to travel. That's the experience certain friends have had. My reason will be ( and it's true) I have an elderly mum living in her own and vulnerable and I need to check on her
