Spa Hotels

Can anyone recommend somewhere that would package dinner, break and breakfast with a treatment or two in a spa?

I don’t want Stobo. Have been there before and it was like a cattle market but something along the same lines. Edinburgh, Fife, Perthshire, Tayside areas.

The auchrannie on arran? Crieff hydro? Macdonald hotel nr peebles?

I'm not a spa person so can't comment on the spa treatments but rooms and dinner have been nice at the above.

Crookairroad · 13/03/2021 16:13

Thanks. Will take a look.

Anthill palace or Fonab in Pitlochry

latissimusdorsi · 13/03/2021 16:16

Atholl palace

Gleneagles is superb for this. Scotsman in Edinburgh or Blythwood in Glasgow. Marr Hall is another though I haven’t been.

Notthisnotthat · 13/03/2021 16:38

I love Gleneagles and Blythswood, and I think it's called one spa in a hotel in Edinburgh which I can't fully remember, they maybe more expensive but amazing and so worth it.

Crieff Hydro is lovely but not set up as a proper stay in your cosy dressing gown/swim suit type of spa, everywhere is separate, which is why I like Gleneagles as once your in the spa that's where you can stay and have lunch there and you can get away from it all.

StarryEyeSurprise · 13/03/2021 16:38

Blythwood is brilliant if you want a city centre one. Much better than the one in Edinburgh with the outside pool ( name escapes me). That was a disappointment.

latissimusdorsi · 13/03/2021 16:51

I have think One Spa is at the Sheraton in Edinburgh

Belindabelle · 13/03/2021 16:55

I think the Edinburgh one is the Sheraton.

Just noticed you want east rather than west. Fairmont and Old Course in St Andrews both have spas.

MotherofTerriers · 13/03/2021 16:58

I liked the Sheraton, but I like Stobo so we probably don't have the same taste in spas!

DogsSausages · 13/03/2021 17:00

Have you looked at The Macdonald hotel group, they have offers on atm

Sunbeam18 · 13/03/2021 17:03

Archerfield near N Berwick; Fairmont at St Andrews

HoldontoOneMoreDay · 13/03/2021 17:07

The One Spa attached to the Balmoral is great but I wouldn't particularly want to eat in the Sheraton, its also a huge hotel so doesn't have that 'everyone in robes' vibe thought the spa itself has a cafe etc.

Have heard good things about Fonab and Mar Hall.

Blytheswood is nice enough but the spa is small and incredibly noisy (all underground). Feels rammed with about 8 people there. Decent treatments though.

Haven't been to the Scotsman spa but the rooms are lovely. Restaurant v pretty there but the food is shit.

The Victorian pool in Crieff Hydro is lovely but it's a massive hotel with tonnes of children... their self catering is very nice, but I don't like the hotel itself.

Gleneagles is great but spenny.

I'm clearly very fussy! If money was no object I'd do Gleneagles. For a treat I'd book a premier inn or air BnB in Edinburgh with a day pass to One Spa, then eat somewhere else.

Selkiesarereal · 13/03/2021 17:08

Gleneagles, it’s just fab, the location, scenery and the spa is beautiful.

Groovee · 13/03/2021 17:21

I like Norton House near Edinburgh Airport. It's quite close to home but it feels like we're away.

user1487194234 · 13/03/2021 17:24

Hard to beat Gleneagles

Belindabelle · 13/03/2021 17:28

Oh what I wouldn’t give for a few days in Gleneagles. I think it reopens soon.

Notthisnotthat · 13/03/2021 17:32

I think they've set a date in May for hopefully reopening Gleneagles.

StarryEyeSurprise · 13/03/2021 17:54

@MotherofTerriers

I liked the Sheraton, but I like Stobo so we probably don't have the same taste in spas!
Yes, that's it! I felt the spa was quite dated and didn't have the wow factor of the Blythwood. Probably just me!
FuckingHateRats · 13/03/2021 18:53

I wouldn't recommend Crieff Hydro. It's not particularly relaxing being situated next to a pool filled with kids, and I think it's quite overpriced for the experience.

MotherofTerriers · 13/03/2021 22:22

I don’t know how it will be post lockdown, but you could get a club room at the Sheraton which gives you spa access and a lounge with free drinks, and then go somewhere else to eat

MrsAmaretto · 13/03/2021 23:10

Dalhousie Castle outside Edinburgh was lovely. We are in the orangey in robes for lunch then in the amazing underground restaurant for a dressed up dinner. Did Spa one day and falconry the next.

Crookairroad · 13/03/2021 23:24

Thank you. I’m looking at them all.

The Old Course Hotel in St Andrew's is lovely for a spa weekend.

GreenlandTheMovie · 14/03/2021 11:39

The One Spa at the Shearton was disappointing for me. Staff were disorganised and didn't seem to know what they were doing, changed therapists halfway through a treatment after being 10 minutes late because they "forgot about me". Ended up missing 15 - 20 minutes of the treatment while they pfaffed around. It was pretty awful really.

Crieff hydro, staff were good but the place was like a cattle market and just too busy to be relaxing. Disappointed to hear Stobo is the same so won't bother!

Gleneagles is fine but none of them are like the specialist devoted spas I've been to in Switzerland, Belgium and Holland, and I'll just hold off til I can travel again.
