Can that be in my garden and socially distanced?

Yes, for social meet up or exercise in Scotland.

Crookairroad · 18/02/2021 20:17

Thank you.

Not my understanding of the rules as they are at the moment - the person visiting you can only leave and remain outside the home for an essential purpose. So exercise is an essential reason but visiting a friend isn't unless you are going to claim that it is a welfare visit (but in that case it wouldn't need to be outside).

Simple way to find out.... could it potentially be seen as fun/entertainment? Then it's not allowed.

Come on, what risk is there to meeting one person in the garden? Fuck the rules, you know there's no risk to this.

I thought you couldn't but if you read the section "Going into someone else's home" on the link @Groovee shared above it says
"If you are meeting people from another household in their garden, you should only go into their house if necessary to:
-access the garden – do so quickly and without touching anything
-use the toilet – avoid touching surfaces with your hands as much as possible, wipe any surfaces that you do touch with antibacterial wipes, wash your hands thoroughly, dry your hands with a freshly laundered towel or a paper towel, which you should dispose of in a closed bin.
If members of another household are going to visit you outside and might need to use your toilet, you should ensure appropriate cleaning materials are available. You should also provide either a hand towel for each visiting household or paper towels and a safe disposal option."
So that implies you can, or has it not been updated for the current lockdown?

Sorry I don't know how to link but if you read the First ministers statement pt Parliament on 4th Jan in link groovee posted she updates guidance in "outdoor gatherings" . She does not say what they should be for.

Based on this I have been allowing my teens to meet with one friend once a week to go for a short walk (what 16 yr old goes for a walk???) and then sitting in our or friend's garden for half an hour with a hot chocolate. All outdoors.
I may also have had a coffee outdoors with a friend couple weeks ago after a walk and we all still seem to be alive!

Thanks. It’s my 40th a week tomorrow and I really want to have a glass of champagne with my best friend in the garden......with a bit of cake. I’m missing her terribly.

Just do it op. You know it's not posing a risk.
Happy birthday when it comes WineCake

You’re allowed to see your best friend anytime. As long as it’s outdoors, one to one and you observe social distancing.

You can meet her every single day for champagne and cake, as long as you don’t share!
