Short break in Scottish borders

Have cracked today and decided I need something to look forward to at Easter, no matter how unlikely it is that we can actually go.

Wondering about a short break in the borders (never stayed there, not too far from home and still in Scotland in case we are banned from England!) But I have no idea where to chose - Melrose, Coldstream, Jedburgh, Kelso or elsewhere. Any thoughts?

Colonia Dene at Coldingham is a fabulous self catering accommodation. We love it there. We usually walk in to the village and the beach. A few nice places for eating as well as a short drive to Eyemouth.

Dryburgh Abbey Hotel, and the Tillmouth country House Hotel at Cornhill on Tweed are both good.

Personally love Hawick!

Another vote for Coldingham/Eyemouth area. If you're allowed over the border by then it's also easy to reach Northumberland.

Melrose is just stunning

Thanks everyone - need self-catering accommodation. Hotels don't really work for us (younger DC). Just been to look at Colonia Dene - it's completely booked up (and for summer too!) Hardly surprising as it looks fab

This is why the virus spreads. Even if your allowed to travel to other areas doesn’t mean you should.

Melrose, great facilities, beautiful and very central to get to all the other places you mention.

@hardchoices
Why do you feel the need to comment so negatively? Seriously? I don't want to get in a fight but what possible difference does it make if I stay in my home and follow the covid rules or go to stay in self-catering accommodation with my family and follow the same covid rules? Can you enlighten me please?
