They aren't even doing a competent job

No, I'm not taking about the number of questions. At PMQ's, when he is asked a question, he doesn't answer it in his reply. He's been warned a few times by the speaker for not answering the question asked.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 23/01/2021 18:00

Don't be daft of course he answers them!

"Waffle waffle, Winston Chuchill, take it on the chin, latinus latinus, waffle."

StarryEyeSurprise · 23/01/2021 18:55

Too true! Did you see the video of when he was asked about his thoughts re the Loch Fyne Shellfish complany losing £40k a day and 100 families affected due to the UK Government's piss poor post Brexit requirements?
His reply was literally - SNP bad.. union good.. say thank you for the vaccine. He is , to use a quote from the new President of America, 'the physical and emotional clone of Trump'.
I received a Conservatives leaflet through the door and it got me wondering- how long until Ruth takes up her place in the House of Lords? 🤔

I wonder why it is that any criticism of the SNP's record or competence always seems to end up in a discussion about Boris's failings. Somehow I doubt it's because of the many parallels, such as diverting attention during a pandemic to focus on their pet constitutional issue. Boris is crap in many ways, so are the SNP. It's almost as if some want to set up a false choice where you have to choose one or the other.

StarryEyeSurprise · 23/01/2021 20:05

I had actually typed up a comment to say in 3.. 2.. 1.. someone will complain that we discussed Boris despite our comments being in response to a pp comparing the leaders of the two governments but it appears to be ok to compare as long as you're anti SNP.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 23/01/2021 20:14

It was more of a general point actually. Any mention of the SNP in relation to their failings or corruption seems to be met with something along the lines of 'what about Boris/Ruth/Westminster/Tories'. I just don't see how Boris's mishandling of Brexit (for example) in any excuses the SNP being a bit shit. Wales has overtaken us on vaccines now BTW for anyone keeping track, which puts us in last place. But that's OK because the SNP is launching an 11 point plan to get Indyref2.

StarryEyeSurprise · 23/01/2021 20:28

Again, pps compared the UK and SG before we did. That's good re Wales as their cases and deaths are higher than ours.
Personally- both my grand parents have had theirs, as has my two NHS worker friends ( one's also doing the vaccinations) and my BIL who works in the ambulance service has had his done too. It seems to be working pretty well. I'm glad we have nearly all the care homes done too as they're the most at risk of death.

WeAllHaveWings · 24/01/2021 12:54
@ThePricklySheep I'm not sure what exactly that is, but if it's total tests conducted, perhaps it doesn't take into account that England seemed to massively ramp up in recent months whereas we, well, didn't.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think England has anything to shout about, or even that they're doing better than us. I just think that the excess death measure is the most reliable, and that this doesn't really show much of a difference. Which makes it annoying that lots of people seem to believe that we're doing 5x better (or whatever dodgy statistic NS used) when we really aren't.
Excess death measure shows England is well above the "substantial increase" line.

Comparing both countries on a graph based on a single set of data and using as proof of levels of success or failure is like comparing apples and oranges and should be left to the analysts and scientists to interpret.

Sticking to basics, and removing politics, England will be massively affected by cities with huge population density, the same as Scotland is affected by a more spread out population when it comes to vaccination rollout and you would need to analyse much deeper to make an informed opinion on either topic.

Thankfully it looks as though England's the trend in excess deaths is starting to plateau again.

Why do people still think the SNP are doing a good job?
Dinnafashyersel · 24/01/2021 15:06

Euromommo finesse the baseline differently for different countries including all 4 UK Nations - no idea why.

This chart is "surprising". According to the latest official ONS stats (week1 2021) England and Wales both have similarly elevated figures.

(Euromommo ought to be sourcing its stats from the ONS).

ConfusedcomMum · 24/01/2021 15:09

Well on a personal level, anyone looks better than Boris Johnson right now (Theresa May, all is forgiven! 😭).

dotoallasyouwouldbedoneby · 24/01/2021 16:39

Well there would have been rioting in the streets if all the Covid support measures had had to have come out of Scottish Tax Receipts alone.

RaraRachael · 25/01/2021 11:08

My sister isn't an SNP supporter but watches NS's daily presentations every day and thinks she is doing an amazing job Hmm

I can't trust somebody who says Indyref is a once in a generation thing, then changes their mind because they don't get the result they wanted.

Let's hope they crash and burn at the May elections, if they go ahead.

florafoxtrot · 25/01/2021 11:37

From what I have seen...I think you are only allowed to compare the SG and UKG to say that the UKG are phenomenal and that the SG are evil.

That seems to be the rule and anyone with a different opinion is "not sensible" or a sheep.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 25/01/2021 11:47

Why is the main defense of the SNP always "they aren't the tories"?

Why is the accusation always that we vote Tory if we don't like the SNP?

titsbumfannythelot · 25/01/2021 11:50

Spot on @Iwillneverbesatisfied it really grinds my gears when people assume I'm a Tory voter

user1471519931 · 25/01/2021 11:51

My dad was vaccinated on Saturday - Dr came to his house to do it. He's 79 and we are in Scotland. I'm pretty happy about that. First jab only of course but still.

user1471519931 · 25/01/2021 11:55

@titsbumfannythelot yes well it depends on the other candidates standing doesn't it??? Ha ha - really hope you understand the joke here!

titsbumfannythelot · 25/01/2021 11:58

😆 It certainly does, but it's the superiority of people that make that assumption that irks me so much.

StarryEyeSurprise · 25/01/2021 12:16

@dotoallasyouwouldbedoneby

You realise it's all borrowed money?
Nyx · 25/01/2021 22:37

But Starry, it's borrowed money that's being doled out by the UK government. This makes it UK government money and we need to be bloody grateful don't you know. An independent Scotland would have none of this money, same as other independent countries have no money whatsoever to deal with the pandemic, because...um, because they...

Hold on, need to figure this out
