@ThePricklySheep I'm not sure what exactly that is, but if it's total tests conducted, perhaps it doesn't take into account that England seemed to massively ramp up in recent months whereas we, well, didn't.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think England has anything to shout about, or even that they're doing better than us. I just think that the excess death measure is the most reliable, and that this doesn't really show much of a difference. Which makes it annoying that lots of people seem to believe that we're doing 5x better (or whatever dodgy statistic NS used) when we really aren't.
Excess death measure shows England is well above the "substantial increase" line.

Comparing both countries on a graph based on a single set of data and using as proof of levels of success or failure is like comparing apples and oranges and should be left to the analysts and scientists to interpret.
Sticking to basics, and removing politics, England will be massively affected by cities with huge population density, the same as Scotland is affected by a more spread out population when it comes to vaccination rollout and you would need to analyse much deeper to make an informed opinion on either topic.
Thankfully it looks as though England's the trend in excess deaths is starting to plateau again.
