Does anyone have any up to date knowledge on entrance test/interview requirements for private schools? (Secondary level)

I will be contacting schools but was looking for some more detail on what is expected?

My son has an assessment on Wednesday for entry into S5 and we've been told he will do a CAT test, have a written assignment and then a short interview, which whom I don't know. We had to submit his latest school report and the school contacted his current school for a reference, asking what - I have no idea!

VR test, Non-VR test, Essay writing, Maths paper.

Interview.

If you want to be considered for a scholarship you need to let them know well in advance and that will be tested in other ways.

I know a few kids who have moved from state to private in Glasgow at similar ages. Two were above average academically, the other was very young for their year, and very much below average academically (although a diligent student with parents who were loaded).

All got in. I don't think they turn down very many people unless that particular year is full.

Thank you. Are you able to say what school that was? I imagine the higher performing the school is results wise, the higher the expectation of intake of children. Stands to reason I suppose. So the schools with lower results are probably much more accommodating and may well be better schools overall.
