I know it's not important in the great scheme of things, but I just went to book a hair appointment for my roots and remembered I'm in a Tier 3 from today.

Fuuuuck.

Sometimes it's the little things that really piss you off isn't it?

Daydreamsinglorioustechnicolor · 20/11/2020 12:19

It so is. It sucks.

Christmasbiscuit · 20/11/2020 12:23

Do you mean tier 4? I think they're open in tier 3.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 20/11/2020 12:24

They are open, but we're in different Tier 3 areas.

It's about five minutes drive Angry

OP posts:
ApolloandDaphne · 20/11/2020 12:26

I think in that case I would just book it and go.

Christmasbiscuit · 20/11/2020 12:28

Ah I get you. It sucks Sad I cancelled a nail appointment for today because I hate taking them off myself. Like you say, it's the little things.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 20/11/2020 12:28

Do you think?

I have a medical appointment in a few weeks that I'll be attending in a different Tier 3 area, and I suppose it's not strictly 'essential' but apart from that I think I should probably stick to the rules.

Gah it's annoying.

OP posts:
Christmasbiscuit · 20/11/2020 12:29

I'm in soon to be tier 4 unfortunately.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 20/11/2020 12:29

It's bollocks innit!

OP posts:
DumplingsAndStew · 20/11/2020 19:36

Did you mean to post this in Scotsnet? Scotland is using 'levels', not 'tiers'.

WaxOnFeckOff · 20/11/2020 19:43

What? Who cares, I'm in Scotland and calling them tiers as is half of scotsnet.

OP just go and get your hair done.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 20/11/2020 19:43

Yeah I did, must have got my terminology mixed up

OP posts:
IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 20/11/2020 19:43

Might do that @WaxOnFeckOff not sure I can go any longer without the chop!

OP posts:
WaxOnFeckOff · 20/11/2020 20:11

I only get mine cut once or twice a year and embraced the grey a few year ago as I just got fed up with the maintenance. It's very liberating :)

anon444877 · 20/11/2020 20:14

What it's levels and not tiers? This is news to me! I knew we had a different tier system to England but what on earth is the difference between a tier and a level? How could it matter?

Lou98 · 20/11/2020 20:28

I may be wrong OP but I'm sure you're allowed to cross in to different areas as long as they are the same tier/level as you, so if you live in a level 3 area you can go to another level 3 area to get your hair done. I think you're just not allowed to go to a level 4 area from a level 3 or level 2 etc if that makes sense.

I live in a level 3 but everywhere else around me is level 4 haha so stuck where we are really 😂

I may have got that wrong so don't take it for fact but I'm sure you're allowed to go to different areas of the same tiers

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 20/11/2020 20:51

A few people have said that to me actually, but I don't know if it's right or not. It seems to be a little bit open to interpretation maybe?

The longer time goes on the more confusing it seems to get!

OP posts:
Lou98 · 20/11/2020 21:16

I'm sure that that is right, although I'm sure most people would say that in Level 3 you should only be travelling anywhere for essential reasons. Personally, I would say go for it, I've been getting my hair done since places opened back up again after the first lockdown, it's someone's income at the end of the day that's already took a big hit this year, I'm happy with the minimal risk

WaxOnFeckOff · 20/11/2020 21:40

No, you are technically not allowed to go to other councils that are the same tier as you if you are in 3 or 4, you can if you are 1 or 2 I think and 1 and 2 are not supposed to go to a 3 or 4 and back again.

However the list of exemptions and reasonable excuses is quite long and to be honest who is actually going to police it? Not the police for a start. If you happen to get stopped for something else and you are identified as being out of your area and don't have a reasonable excuse (such as needing your hair done for your mental health) then they might issue you with a fine. I'd fight any fine in court though as it's not a given that they can actually stop the free movement of individuals legally regardless of what they say.

Had to laugh at the “Scotland is using levels, not tiers” comment.
Of course, Sturgeon had to call it something different to those awful English, didn’t she. Just as track and trace had to be renamed trace and protect or some such nonsense. Surprised she didn’t call it something Gaelic. Anything to try and split the country and create difference from our fellow Brits. Pathetic.

cdtaylornats · 22/11/2020 10:14

Don't worry Sturgeon is able to get hers done.

cdtaylornats · 22/11/2020 10:16

@Babdoc it just brings home the stupidity of devolution. Any sensible approach would have had a UK wide track and trace possibly including Ireland too.

I just hope all of the vaccine jabs come with a union jack on them.

Crappyfridays7 · 22/11/2020 10:23

Isn’t it only tier/level 4 that hairdressers are closed?
Mine was open all day Friday then closed at 6pm...unless your salon is in a level 4 or far away from you....you could go somewhere closer this time?...
It’s all 4 round me, except Falkirk randomly and there not really anything there I’d go specially for. My hair is a riot but it’ll need to stay that way for a while longer. Hope you sort your hair soon op,

Think it is now against the law to travel from one tier 3 to another. Okay, you could probably do it and not get caught, but that’s not really the point, is it? If everyone keeps bending or breaking the rules to suit them, then the cases will still keep increasing. It’s frustrating, but a haircut isn’t really essential and there must be other hairdressers in your own council area.
