How much notice for level 4

I'm in one of the areas that's predicted to move into level 4. When NS announces on Tuesday how much notice do you think she'll give? Midnight that night or a few days grace?

Someone has shared a letter on my fb suggesting it would start on Friday 20th. Dont know how legit it is though

38weekswithno2 · 14/11/2020 20:37

I had also heard rumours of the 20th... can you remember what she's done in the past? I'm sure it's varied with restrictions but I can't remember

How much notice for level 4

We were originally told that the tiers would be reviewed every Tuesday with changes to come into force on a Friday.

Anyone in the areas that have been very low until last week and now been threatened with Level 4 (alongside areas that have been hovering around 300 for months) because of an increase linked to a care home completely and utterly hacked off?

Thanks, I couldn't remember what had been said. Thought there was a reason people were saying Friday.

I'm pretty upset tbh, level 4 means no family childcare. I'm due my second any day in the next couple of weeks, my husband can't take paternity leave. What am I meant to do with no help for my older child while I'm recovering Sad

Also MIL lives in the neighbouring council area so wouldn't even be able to come to see her grandchild outside as it looks like they'll be putting travel restrictions into law rather than just guidance. Feeling pretty down tbh.

I don't blame you OP. It's all such a waste of time imo.

More harm being done than good.

LouScot · 14/11/2020 21:12

Sorry @38weekswithno2, I think if I was in one of the west of Scotland areas that have been mentioned I'd be assuming we were moving to level 4 on Friday. Childcare as such might not be possible but you would still be able to have someone in as a carer-this could involve helping with your other child? Is there anything you still need to buy /borrow? Hope it's not too stressful

dementedpixie · 14/11/2020 21:13

Why can he not take paternity leave?

38weekswithno2 · 14/11/2020 21:15

I am assuming that mil caring for my older child when I'm in labour is counted as essential care of a vulnerable person?!

I've spent this entire pandemic pregnant, working from home with no childcare until late in the summer then I went back to work frontline with the public when I was in my third trimester until I finished 2 weeks ago. I am completely bloody done with it. Our household income has halved due to self employed contracts drying up for my dh and while I know we are still far more fortunate than a lot of people as he found another job right away, it's a bitter pill to swallow.

Why can he not take paternity leave

He started a new job this month and isn't entitled to it. They've said he can take a couple of days emergency annual leave for my labour and following day.

Would B&Q shut in tier 4?

38weekswithno2 · 14/11/2020 21:18

@LouScot thankfully I'm completely organised for the baby. Do you think you count as requiring a carer while you recover from birth? I haven't been able to find a definitive answer.

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 14/11/2020 21:18

Will he be counted as an essential worker?
You gotta do what you gotta do in order to get through this. If you need outside help so be it.

dementedpixie · 14/11/2020 21:20

This is the info for level 4 :

Informal childcare is only permitted for anyone employed in essential or permitted services.

You should follow the rules for socialising.

Only children should enter the home of another household.

38weekswithno2 · 14/11/2020 21:22

@dementedpixie yes, he'll be working. He would hopefully be able to do a lot of work from home but he's very busy learning the ropes and getting a handover from someone who is due to leave soon. At least he can make me lunch if he's at home I suppose.
He's been frantically cooking meals for the freezer, cleaning his car out so it's clean for the baby etc ... I think he's nesting 🙈

LouScot · 14/11/2020 21:23

@38weekswithno2 as far as I can see there doesn't seem to be any official guidance, but if you're at home without another adult I genuinely don't think anyone would think you were bending the rules to have someone visit as a carer x

38weekswithno2 · 14/11/2020 21:24

@dementedpixie I read that but i assumed as I'm on maternity leave it wouldn't be deemed essential childcare. I'm a keyworker, public sector and as I could wfh in the first lockdown I couldn't get a nursery place

Agree with wax why treat areas that have a very specific driver the same as others that have been high for months. It’s like they are too scared to differentiate. They have the data to understand what is driving the numbers - if you have an outbreak in a care home isolate those numbers and then look at what remains. Stirling shd not be level 4.

38weekswithno2 · 14/11/2020 21:27

You gotta do what you gotta do in order to get through this. If you need outside help so be it.

That is kind of how I feel, no one has been in our house since September so it's not like we're flaunting rules or anything. If travel restrictions are put into law though I'd worry about mil getting into trouble and my own mum absolutely cannot break any of the rules due to her own professional circumstances.

Maybe it will be ok, I'll have an easy birth, feeding will be a doddle and my DS will be an angel with no jealousy or clingy issues 🤞🏻

@Saturdayliein

Would B&Q shut in tier 4?
B&Q would stay open, because they sell items that people might need to do emergency repairs. They might block off aisles with items considered non-essential, though.
WaxOnFeckOff · 14/11/2020 22:00

Stirling shd not be level 4.

It shouldn't have been level 3. It was only that as the hospital was needed for Lanarkshire overspill.

There were empty beds in the next level down from ICU in FV yesterday.

iquitelikenormalityafterall · 14/11/2020 22:20

Please get somebody to help you. Don’t worry about the rules. You’ll need someone to help with your older child, at least for the first wee while! Please don’t stress. Are you worried about getting into trouble for rule breaking, or do the people who will be helping have underlying health conditions?

38weekswithno2 · 14/11/2020 22:40

@iquitelikenormalityafterall I'm not worried personally about getting into trouble. I'm worried about my mum or dmil getting into trouble. There's also the fact that they might not agree to help if that's what the rules state.
I might just be having a pre-birth hormonal panic, it could all be fine.

We're being as organised as possible so dh will continue stocking up the freezer, we've done a lot of cleaning and clearing, everything we need for at least the first 3 months is washed / disinfected / put together. DH has bought tonnes of nappies and wipes, he also bought formula & bottles in case breastfeeding doesn't go well or I need a break (he thought he'd hidden the formula from me actually as I think he thought I'd feel sensitive about it).
He'll be able to do the 3 morning nursery drop offs and one pick up but I'll have to collect twice a week at lunchtime, hopefully be fit for the walk right away as there's no parking.
DS really is a very good boy and keeps telling me he wants to be my number 1 helper and look after the baby. Obviously the reality can be different when a wee boy is faced with his mummy being distracted constantly by a tiny, screeching thing Grin
