Anyone else ecstatic that Biden and Harris have been elected? I feel so elated and that this is a big step in the right direction against racism.

Biden's cohort see the PM for who he really is-

Biden said- "Boris Jonson is a physical and emotional CLONE of Trump."

Also a former Obama spokesman, still working closely with Biden, didn't hold back when responding to Boris' 'congratulations ' tweet -

"This shape-shifting creep weighs in. We will never forget your racist comments and slavish devotion to Trump." 👏

I hope we see the end of being tied to this ASAP.

Ah. Independence. No opportunity missed to try to make it all about the SNP.

What about something closer to home? The total disaster of track and trace today? The exams fiasco? Students locked up in tower blocks after being told a pack of lies.

But, hey, someone we have never heard of hates Boris. So do many Unionists but never let a chance to promote your agenda pass.

Scotslassie1 · 11/11/2020 22:01

I didn't mention the SNP.

You've never heard of Biden 😲 .

OP posts:
Cismyfatarse · 11/11/2020 22:14

"I hope we see the end of being tied to this."

By this, presumably you mean the rest of the UK.

And a former Obama......Is a bit vague.

Plus you are all over this board trying to push your agenda and it is getting a bit boring.

Why not make some actual arguments?

Lidlfix · 11/11/2020 22:24

Or tied to Boris ? Which would not necessarily be a view unique to SNP, pretty sure Scottish Labour don't love him.

Scotslassie1 · 11/11/2020 22:25

I've just written about eis and don't think anything else in weeks so..

Also I'm not here to argue, actually feeling pretty positive. Trump's gone. Boris ( hopefully) will be next as he's frozen out the EU and well, the US president's not a fan.

I can only hope that the next PM is of the Biden/ Harris calibre as opposed to the current Trump clone. 🙏 🙏

Scotslassie1 · 11/11/2020 22:30
  • That was in response to cis. Yes Lidl, I think most wish to be Boris free! 🤞

I agree Scotslassie - it does give hope that BJ's days are numbered. Although it's 3.5 years until the next election Sad whether BJ stays the course, as it involves hard work and hard choices, is another question Wink

This was a good article from Nick Cohen which continues the theme of hope: that the populists are reaping the rewards of their own policies and sown the seeds of their own demise Smile

DumplingsAndStew · 12/11/2020 08:42

Wow, I really struggle to see how anyone read a pro-independence/SNP angle in that.

I'm really hopeful that people will remember how supportive of Trump Boris has been.

Bloodypunkrockers · 12/11/2020 11:32

Dumplings. I read the OP and I did see the independence angle in the last sentence.

What others relevance to scotsnet would there be that was a "Boris bad" post.

Scotslassie1 · 12/11/2020 12:34

Thanks PrettyBird, that was an interesting read.

Trump saying he could shoot someone on fifth avenue and still be elected is on par with Boris being voted in despite his £350m Brexit lie.

Yes, the Northern voters must now see the contempt they're treated with and that the ' Northern powerhouse ' lie was as big as the Brexit lie.

Re Labour, I was quite disappointed to see that Starmer removed the whip from Corbyn. We had the Corbyn / terrorist link BS in the Tory press because he supports the rights of Palestinians. Corbyn was right in saying ant semitism in the Labour Party isn't as bad as the Tories make out - the Tories make up rubbish to smear others and you'd think Keir would know this . Of course he's much better than BJ but yes, wasn't expecting that from him.

3.5 years is a long time and I agree, a man who said his (journalist) £250k salary was 'chickenfeed' and has 0 interest beyond himself won't do the full term.

We can only hope for a more inclusive, progressive party and PM but not sure where that's going to come from! How much are flights to NZ? ;)

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/11/2020 12:36

Why is this in Scotsnet? There is a Politics topic for general politics threads.

Scotslassie1 · 12/11/2020 12:40

Yes Dumplings, I'm also hoping that because Biden got in, the US trade deal might be off the table.
The Tories voted against ensuring the food standards we have currently are replicated with the US. I don't eat much meat nowadays but yuk, no thanks. And not good for our businesses either if we're importing cheap , poor quality food.

OP posts:
Lidlfix · 12/11/2020 12:46

Scotsnet due to Biden's stance on Brexit? Perhaps more aligned with Scotland where the majority voted to remain than his predecessor.

But I am very upfront about my lack of political knowledge, interest and desire to debate, so maybe I read things differently.

DumplingsAndStew · 12/11/2020 12:53

If the OP wants to post this in Scotsnet then she can.

I'd say it was very relevant to Scotland to be hopeful that the Tories (or Boris at least) could come to an end... given that we didn't vote for them.

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/11/2020 12:54

Clutching a bit there @Lidlfix :o

Either the OP is pushing the SNP angle or it doesn't belong in Scotsnet. I appreciate that threads stray and not every post on a thread ends up being specifically scotland related. The opening post of this is seemingly not scotland related so should be moved imo.

Scotslassie1 · 12/11/2020 13:01

I just thought as I live in Scotland - I always use Scotsnet...

Anyway really really not wanting an argument just felt so happy and I do think the seeds of change have been planted.

OP posts:
Scotslassie1 · 12/11/2020 13:21

And thank you Dumplings! 🥰

Yes, I thought very relevant in Scotland and some hope that change is on the horizon..

OP posts:
WaxOnFeckOff · 12/11/2020 13:30

Lots of posters campaigned for many years to get Scotsnet so that we could "discuss all aspects of life in Scotland, including relocating, schools and local areas"- as in the intro above. Local forums are far to sparse to be relevant so Scotsnet was born, we could talk about school going back in August without being told we are too early, get the best recipes for stovies without trying to find one in Recipes Wink or just generally stuff with a specifically scottish slant.

We then had to fight to get certain covid topics put back here.

Personally I think there are plenty of places to discuss stuff with a wider audience that isn't specific to Scotland so those should be used.

I'm not the thread police though, I'm just wary of this topic being lost through it just being another dumping ground for anything. I think we've all made some friends in here as it's used by a more specific group of people, so it's true that it can become the default to post here and see what your pals think.

Just giving my rationale on why I think it should be moved - obviously others have their own views.

DumplingsAndStew · 12/11/2020 13:36

Wax, you didn't suggest moving the thread you recently posted on regarding Wales cancelling their exams.

I suspect that your reaction to this thread isn't because you feel its not Scotland-related, but rather because it's not anti-SNP (or anti-whatever nickname you're using for Nicola Sturgeon these days)

OP, I agree with you that the Biden/Harris administration is very positive and will hopefully to great things to their relationship and support of Scotland.

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/11/2020 13:43

@DumplingsAndStew Did you read beyond the title of the Welsh post?

That’s a bit of a shocker! This will leave Welsh students at a disadvantage to Scottish, English and Northern Irish university candidates unless...

all our exams are cancelled too (runs and hides!!)

Seems to be inviting posters to comment on the potential exam position in Scotland as far as I can see.

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/11/2020 13:47

I suspect that your reaction to this thread isn't because you feel its not Scotland-related, but rather because it's not anti-SNP (or anti-whatever nickname you're using for Nicola Sturgeon these days)

And I think you'll note that I'm saying it's not about the SNP and that's why it doesn't belong so your comment is inaccurate.

Scotslassie1 · 12/11/2020 13:52

WaxOn yet you're saying this post shouldn't be here because it doesn't only affect Scotland? Or did I misunderstand you?

OP posts:
Scotslassie1 · 12/11/2020 13:55

Seriously, are we only allowed to write about the SNP on scotsnet? Surely that's not true...??

OP posts:
WaxOnFeckOff · 12/11/2020 13:57

Scotsnet is for posts with a specific relevance to Scotland, your post doesn't have a specific relevance to Scotland so can be discussed in the appropriate area where it will have a broader audience relevant to the topic you want to discuss.

Did you used to be MumofHunter?

DumplingsAndStew · 12/11/2020 14:00

You seriously can't see the that OP - and the general administration in the US - affects Scotland?
