I don't think we will.

No I don't think we will either, I think she might move certain regions into tier 4 at some point. I'm in Glasgow and doubt much would change in terms of people sticking to the rules anyway

RaspberryCoulis · 06/11/2020 08:08

Nah, not a national one. I hope. The figures over the last few days have shown at worst a slowing, at best a plateau.

And the nightingale at the SECC in glasgow has still never seen a covid patient?

UnholyStramash · 07/11/2020 01:44

Glasgow area might go into level 4 at some point but they seem to want lower areas like highlands not to be lumped in with the rest of the country that’s higher. It makes sense - I’m in a level 2 area just north of central belt and I’d like to keep it that way if possible.

Torvean32 · 07/11/2020 15:16

We've had 2 lockdowns. Still pissed over it. NS wont answer any Qs about it so I think she knows they screwed up.
Hopefully be in tier 1 soon.
I dont think theres a need for lockdown. Our R rate is almost 1.

NS isn't one for giving us hope though is she ...

ParkheadParadise · 07/11/2020 15:18

Doesn't look like it.

peakotter · 07/11/2020 17:16

No. Not fair to the highlands.

I do think there’s a chance they’ll put all the central belt into level 4 for a few weeks, just to buy some extra flexibility before or after Christmas. It all depends if numbers come down in the next few weeks, they’re pretty stable for the last month but no decrease yet.

I have noticed the sneaky changes to the level system that makes level 4 stricter in the last week. I wish they’d notify people.

The cynical side of me says it depends how much England’s lockdown reduces numbers. If they get to a level lower than Scotland and can have a more flexible Christmas then it won’t look good.

Horehound · 07/11/2020 17:27

I actually don't either. Seems like numbers dropping quite well

Yawn.
helpfulperson · 07/11/2020 18:05

I don't think we will right now as the measures look like they are working. Provided people cooperate I think the tier system will work. But in may be needed to have a whole scale lockdown later on depending on how the vaccine plays out.

I do have faith that the decisions are made on the evidence even if that changes over time.

ladylunchalot · 07/11/2020 18:55

I'm in North Lanarkshire and I wouldn't be surprised if we go to level 4 next week as our rate of infection per 100k is the highest in the country. There still seems to be a lack of beds in the 3 main Lanarkshire hospitals which will be a major decision maker.
I honestly can't see the rest of the country going into a lock down as rates seem to be improving. Feels like Lanarkshire has been in a lock down of sorts since the start of October.

ssd · 07/11/2020 21:43

What sneaky changes have been brought in on level 4?

OP posts:
Nearlysantatime · 07/11/2020 21:54

I think she will want to keep it to tiered areas rather than a whole country lockdown like England

peakotter · 08/11/2020 10:10

The level 4 change that affected me was organised kids activities, which have changed from “allowed outdoors” to “not allowed”. I’m doing backup plans for work. It would really help if they would highlight the changes.

Level 3 also initially said that under 12s were exempt from the rule banning mixing in houses. But they changed it back again.

I don’t know about other changes because I didn’t save the old versions and they didn’t affect me directly. But I’d be surprised if the only changes were those two.

Callisto1 · 08/11/2020 10:14

So with level 4 there would be no outdoor or indoor sports for kids?

peakotter · 08/11/2020 12:32

@Callisto1 it depends if it is non-contact or regulated by a “Scottish governing body of sport” . If so they can possibly meet outside.

Unregulated activities, like toddler groups or youth groups, are banned in level 4.

But who knows if they will change it again without telling anyone.

Callisto1 · 08/11/2020 12:54

Thank you @peakotter I'll have a look.

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 08/11/2020 14:49

I hope not as has been said above it isn’t fair on rural areas, there is currently 5 people in our hospital with suspected covid and less than 5 in ICU

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 08/11/2020 17:13

DHs colleague has family working at wishaw hospital and they are apparently full or nearly full of Covid patients.

Needthesunshine · 08/11/2020 17:58

I think Lanarkshire will go to level 4. The 3 hospitals are really busy and cases are still higher than the rest of Scotland despite the ongoing restrictions. Really hope I’m wrong as it would be devastating for many local businesses.

LargeProsecco · 08/11/2020 18:20

I hope Lanarkshire does - their icu is at 300% capacity.

Where I work, the covid patients in icu have quadrupled in recent weeks, but still within capacity.

Winter pressures have not even begun properly......

Scotslassie1 · 08/11/2020 19:45

Yikes, why is this not in the news? Maybe then people would take heed.

DumplingsAndStew · 09/11/2020 08:38

Scotland-wide, I thought there would be once the furlough was confirmed to be in place for Scotland too, but was very surprised it wasn't announced. Fingers crossed we are seeing enough of control to keep things as they are with regional regulations
