So the EU is now taking legal action against the UK Gov for breaking international law and taking steps which will impact the Good Friday Agreement. Anyone care we have a government that openly acts illegally? £44m for ferries to a company that doesn't make them. Millions to a pest control company for ' PPE'. Just the latest example of how the UK's become a pariah state. Really wish we were watching this from the sidelines and not being dragged along with the equal parts MIA / beyond corrupt Government.

The Brexit situation gets worse and worse. I don't think anyone expected it to get this bad.
I don't think I'll be able to bring myself to vote SNP next year though - the Hate Crime Bill is like something in a dystopian novel. And the SNP are going ahead with it despite masses of shocked opposition on all sides.

I was reading the leaked e- mails between Douglas Ross and other Tories. Most of them felt it was fit for purpose and just needed some minor adjustments but Ross and a Westminster backbencher said they can create resistance against it for political gain and 'they could say what they like about it.' They decided they should use it against 'the Nats' and either say it 'infringes human rights' or 'it means the SNP don't wish you to speak freely. ' They even talked about not aiming to get it axed but keeping it until the upcoming elections solely to continue to use it for their own political gain.
Zero interest in helping the minority groups have protection against hate. Seems Ross' plan worked on a lot of people.

I haven't heard or read anything the Tories have to say on the subject. I've had a look at stuff on it published by the Scottish Government though. And I see that Labour and the Lib Dems are saying that they'll vote against it if it isn't amended to their satisfaction. Unfortunately, there aren't enough of them to stop it going through.
The Scottish Police, Law Society of Scotland and the Catholic and Free churches are all strongly opposed to the Bill. Does that mean nothing to you? Do you think they haven't read it, or something?
I note that it specifically protects cross-dressers, but doesn't protect women. Terrific. And yes, in theory women may be protected in some way in the future. Don't hold your breath.

The bottom link's from nearly 20 years ago! And breaking international law / risking the Good Friday Agreement is slightly worse than not implementing EU regulations. Same as the PP re the SNP putting in a wooly law re hate crime.
Desperate.

The Scottish Hate Crime Bill is a fundamental attack on freedom of speech, which is strongly opposed by bodies including the Scottish Law Society and the Scottish Police.
I would love Scotland to become a successful independent country within the EU or EEA. The UK government will do everything it can to make that as difficult as possible. The Scottish government is incompetent, divided and in thrall to woke ideology. It's not looking promising. Nor is staying in the UK. It's a frying pan / fire situation, and it's hard to say which is the frying pan and which the fire.
