Highland Cathedral

Just reading the thread about ‘what classical music gives you goose bumps’ and I didn’t want to ruin their vibe by mentioning bagpipes 😂 But does anyone else get a lump in their throat when they hear Highland Cathedral? I don’t know if if it’s because I’ve heard it played at funerals (but also weddings) but it makes me well up every time.

I had no idea it has words!

Cannae beat the skirl o the pipes. Love Highland Cathedral. Had a female piper from my Regiment play it dying my wedding while we signed the register.

My son is learning the chanter right now! I'm so excited that he's going to play the pipes.

I love Highland Cathedral. Never thought of it as funeral music. Just generally uplifting Smile

Cheesy and overplayed IMO

Man, you should hear the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra’s version if it on YouTube. It’s amazing!

It was played at 2 funerals I've been to.

I walked down the aisle to it but do think it’s nice for a funeral too

Im a highlander and love the bagpipes. Highland Cathedral is beautiful and i love Amazing Grace.. I was in the RNR in university when we matched down to the university chapel, we were lead by the pipes and drums. Local ppl would line the route in places. Seeing an elderly man/woman with a tear in their eye almost started me crying. The tunes played by the pipes were beautiful.

That was my entrance music when I got married, my mum requested it from a local piper and he was superb.

He played "Leaving Port Askaig" for the exit.

Two of my faves, and I still come over all goosebumpy when I hear either.

Walked down the aisle to it, me and my dad were pure greetin' Smile

I could watch this all day

Absolutely love it. My dad was piped into the cemetery to this at his funeral in May. Not because it’s funeral music, just because it’s a beautiful peace
