Can't go see my mum now - I'm north, she's south

So does this mean that tomorrow and Saturday its nobody in your household but come Monday you can host members of another household? Im getting a bit lost with it all..

dementedpixie · 11/09/2020 20:46

Don't know what you're asking there. Different rules will apply if your local area is locked down further

You can't have others in your house. Can only meet up to 6 from 2 households outdoors

Ridiculous, but you can see your mum at a restaurant or coffee shop. Or, just go and see her anyway (if she lives alone and may need you to “care” for her)

InTheCludgie · 11/09/2020 20:58

Would outdoors also mean your garden? Or is that off limits too? Confused

Batshitbeautycosmeticsltd · 11/09/2020 21:07

Either listen to them or don't and make a decision.

Dinnafashyersel · 11/09/2020 23:28

1/3 of the population under "local" restrictions.

Ecosse · 12/09/2020 14:36

Looking at the latest figures today, it’s clear that the big issue is in Glasgow and the west. 106 cases in Glasgow and 48 in Lanarkshire.

In contrast, there are many areas with very few cases- 5 in Fife, 1 in Forth Valley, 5 in Grampian, 4 in Highland, 4 in Tayside.

It seems to me that stronger measures are needed in the West rather than banning D.C. from playing outside with 2 friends in areas with no cases. Why are pubs still open in Glasgow?

Dinnafashyersel · 12/09/2020 15:09

You could ask - why are pubs still open anywhere in preference to allowing children to play out in the street.

No. If youre in a lockdown area you're in lockdown. Noone allowed in your house. The new rules from Monday apply to non locked down areas
Ecosse · 12/09/2020 15:59

@Dinnafashyersel

Tbh I don’t think there is an issue in pubs and restaurants being open in areas where there are very few infections.

It seems to me that NS is very reluctant to shut down Glasgow which is leading to the whole country facing measures that are totally disproportionate to the number of cases locally.

Dinnafashyersel · 12/09/2020 17:10

Don't disagree with you on low incidence areas Ecosse but one rule for fast approaching 50% of the population and a different set for the rest doesn't really work. I am in a "local" restrictions area. I can be in Aberdeen or Edinburgh or Dundee or Stranraer in a couple of hours.

I no more think that kids playing in Glasgow parks are driving infection than pubs in Aberfeldy are. Yet our local park had the CCTV van out on patrol despite the intermittent downpours doing the deterrent job in spades.

Railingsohno · 12/09/2020 18:23

It’s obvious why pubs are still open! They’re trying to keep people in jobs and the economy going. It’s a balancing act.

Railingsohno · 12/09/2020 18:25

I also think the whole country rules are simpler to follow and stop people moving around the country taking the virus with them.

I'm sorry but i disagree. The problem started in Glasgow. The lack on stringent methods have led to the spread.

There's no way im obeying a Scotland lockdown. We had a 3 week lockdown for a lot less cases. We have 8 cases as far as I'm aware.

NS needs to sort out the problem areas and treat all areas the same. There should be a travel ban in restricted areas to stop them spreading it further.

Dinnafashyersel · 14/09/2020 14:49

Torvean your attitude is all very well but are you banning essential work travel as well? A good proportion of the "local" lockdown area travels in and out for work and an equally large, if not larger number travel into the area for work. Stirling, Edinburgh (and everywhere in between), Ayrshire, Inverclyde are all commuting distance - lots of these will be essential workers including relatively higher risk healthcare.

There is also a huge degree of connectivity between businesses and services in areas beyond this. My fruit and veg comes from Angus and Perth just as much as my tatties come from Ayrshire.

Hotairoverthere · 16/09/2020 22:25

Wondering what other people’s experience with the local lockdowns are?

I do not know one person who is not allowing visitors into their homes in Lanarkshire and I have asked friends and they say the same.

I provide childcare for a family member and wonder if I should or not.

Also I got a cosmetic procedure done today which involved the person being extremely close to my face for 2 hours. She told me she was just back from Rome. We had masks on but still; made me think that’s allowed but I can’t visit my mum and I know for a fact the risks are larger today than a visit to my mum as she hardly leaves her house.

dementedpixie · 16/09/2020 22:33

I've not been into anyones house and noone has been in mine. I dropped shopping at my mum's today but did not go in and also took stuff to my sister's house and again just dropped it at her door
