Inverness-where to eat out

Hi all

We’re from the west coast-Loch lomond area- & heading up to Inverness for a few days at the weekend. Pre-Covid we regularly holidayed in Inverness; at least x2 a year.

However, we’ve not left our village since before lockdown & I’m a wee bit nervous. We’re arriving on Friday evening, maybe around 8. Just wondering if anyone could recommend a place to eat out? Normally I’d be happy to try anywhere but given the current situation I’m thinking we just get a McDonald’s drive thru!.The thought of being in a busy restaurant makes me uneasy. 😬
We’re a family of 4. Kids are primary school age.

Can anyone put my mind at rest? Recommend a family friendly, not packed, place to eat?

Thank you in advance. 😊

Kind regards
MM

How about Mustard Seed or the Kitchen (on either side of the river)? I haven't been in either since lockdown lifted but they're usually great for families.

Or, a couple of the hotels just outside the centre are well set up for social distancing - Redcliffe or Corriegarth.

Not in Inverness, but i've been out to eat quite a few times since places opened up and whilst the rules for each place haven't been exactly the same, they have all had rules. Usually spaced out tables, sometimes with plastic screens between. A lot want you to wear a mask until you are seated or when you go to the loo. All servers have worn masks. All orders either done on an app or at table, no going up to the bar (apart from one where you went to the bar to pay but otherwise not). One place took our temperature with a gun thingy. Some have one way systems too. Most places make you use sanitiser on the way in and up to you after that.

Honestly obviously it's not completely normal but it's not too abnormal that the kids will get frightened and enough precautions being taken.

I've been in everything from a wetherspoons (didn't eat) to upmarket independant restaurants and from cafes to supermarket eating places and bar/restaurant places to indian/turkish etc etc. Felt well taken care off everywhere.

I hope you find somewhere but please give it a try before sticking with a drive through :)
