Kids birthday parties

Completely trivial I know, but do the restrictions for 5 households/15 people outdoors, 3 households/8 people indoors apply to children - especially if they’re all in the same school class?

My 7 year old wants to have a celebration of some sort for his birthday and I want to be sure on the limits. Would suit me fine if it’s the above! Grin

I don't know about the official guidlines, but if they're mixing at school surely they can mix out of school too?
That's the way I'd view it anyway.

I thought children weren't included within the numbers as they don't need to social distance?

Saying that, I probably wouldn't organise a huge gathering just now (as parents likely to tag along and stay) but maybe something with a smaller friendship group.

Thanks everyone- yeah I have no idea how it applies for children but I guess no one’s crazy enough to contemplate having more than a couple round at any one time!

Just have a couple of friends. Otherwise the drop off issue unless you have a massive/staggered drop off point etc.

Plus easier for you Grin and can use covid as the reason

What are the rules for children aged 11 and under meeting up?

Children aged 0-11 may meet outdoors in groups of up to 15 people with members of up to four households at a time without the children following physical distancing. From 10 July, they can do this as many times a day as they wish. Where adults are accompanying them, the limits on those adults meeting with adults from other households still apply.

From 10 July children can meet up with up to two households indoors without physical distancing. Children are not required to be physically distant from adults from other households who are not shielding. It remains the responsibility of the adult to manage their own distancing. Outdoors, children aged 0-11 should not meet in groups larger than 15 people in total at a time and indoors they should not meet in groups larger than eight at a time.
