to Edinburgh/Glasgow easily
We are looking for 3 bed properties

What sort of things are you looking for? Walkable to station? Quiet streets, more buzzy area, views? Budget?

I'm in Stirling and happy to help :)

Okay :) That's quite a tight budget and there isn't too much on at the moment to get the best idea.

I believe that there are 3 bed semi newbuilds on budget at Kings meadows which is basically the other side of the motorway from whins of milton. I always think that seems quite far out from Stirling centre but I guess it depends what you are used to.

Walkable into town you have riverside which is a real mix and you might get a 3 bed ex council (most are now privately owned) in budget. Torbrex and also Cambussbaron might suit you as well but might struggle on budget. If schools aren't an issue then some bits of Bannockburn are nice. Causwayhead again nice but might struggle on budget depending on what comes up, new build estates at Cornton same. Bridge of Allan is expensive but occasionally ex council comes up there too. Dunblane the same. Both Dunblane and BofA have their own station.

You also have all the outlying villages and towns which I don't know as well but given a choice I'd go for the hillfoots ones over the other eastern villages.

Basically most areas have nice suburban estate parts and there are only a few of the rougher council estates (Raploch, Cornton etc) that I'd avoid but those would probably be a bit under your budget anyway. However, in terms of community some of those areas have the best community stuff going on.

If you see anything you fancy, post it or message it to me and i'll do my best to give you any local info I have.

Pretty much what Wax says, my DD and I look at houses in that bracket in Stirling lots as she'll hopefully be looking to buy in a year or so. It's a bit of a tricky price point with lots for a good deal less but then a big jump.
Bannockburn and Cambusbarron are great for motorway access. They also have a villagey feel. The new estate Wax mentioned hasn't released the next lot of prices but it looks like a 3bed would in your price range and looks like a pleasant, very typical new build estate. Stirling is great, obviously I am biased, but it really is a lovely place to live.
If you want a little more rural without going too far Gargunnock and Kippen are not too long a drive but it is taking you away from the transport links.

Here's one in the new estate near Torbrex it's on Zoopla but I am rubbish at links .

Yes it's a tricky price point, up until recently you'd have got a nice 3 bed semi/detached in my older new build estate for around that price but they seem to have taken a bit of a jump and I rarely see anything under £200k now. There just really isn't much about. Local SM has a few people on looking too.

I obviously agree with Lidl about it being a great place to live, plenty for all ages, public transport in terms of buses isn't great near me and taxis are quite expensive but most places are walkable into town (if you like a walk) other than maybe out Whins of Milton way, parking never too much of an issue to be honest if you plan on using a car.

This looks like a good buy but is on at offers over £210k and not sure what that would go for in current market - maybe £230?

LOVELYDOVEY05 · 06/08/2020 16:36

Thank you both so much for the tips. I did think there seemed to be
a bit of a jump between the lower value and then ones which may be
a bit too expensive which you confirmed.
It just saves so much time if someone can point you in the right
direction .I have noticed places seem to go for c10% over the asking
price in Scotland . Perhaps a another pain will be that we will have
to rent somewhere before buying as English and Scottish systems
so different!

Definitely worth renting in the area and taking time to get a feel for different places. You might find a favourite :)

this looks a good buy in Torbrex and would be about on budget I think.
